Nothing beats what our boat did, doing figure 8's and refusing to go INTO the panama canal for about 3 days. Was like someone afraid to go in the water or something, getting close, about to stick their toe in and then going, no no no, i can't do it! It had canalphobia. Combine that with me being gullible and a well-done practical joke of an IS forum member onboard the same boat who told me the boat had mechanical issues and is going back to germany, and those were a rough few days. All worth it in the end.
Plus, you have a nice 135 to play with while you wait. I was in a rental Hyundai Accent for 3 weeks after selling my S5. |

3 days to get into the canal? what, did someone forget their wallet and had to wait for a fund transfer? That sucks. On the bright side, it could have been worse - at least your ship didn't have the captain of the Costa Concordia at the helm :P
S5 to an Accent? Man, there's a performance and refinement shock. Sounds even worse than when I went from my '09 E90 335i6 personal car to driving a Dodge Journey company car. Hopefully the VPC gets it in and out in a reasonable time frame. Tom Petty was right, "waiting is the hardest part" |

Yes, it docked right at the entrance to the canals, and then the next day, it had moved and docked FURTHER away, like a mile east back in the Pacific!
I like to say that accent just made me appreciate the 135is that much more when I got it. Almost any Tom Petty song rings true for the wait and these cars - "You Wreck Me" or even once it makes it out of Germany - "Refugee" but I'll prefer "Running Down a Dream" and anytime that comes on I suddenly feel the need to drive as fast as humanly possible out on an open road. |

Hoping by Monday I'll see my car moved to production. Left my CA a message to see if I could get further details as well.

Update: Got an email from my CA that said the status is marked as 112. Was hoping to be a little further along but at least things are moving.

Looks comparable, at least in coupes, but these don't include convertibles, so hard to compare.
What was shocking is seeing BMW's July sales and 1-series sales for 2013 were more than double what they were in July 2012 as everyone who wants one seems to be making a last minute run before they're gone. Never heard of a lame duck, soon-to-be "obsolete" last year's model have a huge spike in sales in its final days. |

Hell, I did it, but I didn't want to risk waiting too long, so ordered in February.
Could also blame that Bimmer magazine cover article in May called something like 135is - The Essential BMW. Oooh, I have a picture of it somewhere, let me dig that up. |

Wow cool cover! Seems like this car did get a lot of love from the press at the end of its life. Happy to be getting one! I have never seen a 135is on the road in my area (and I live in the SF bay) so I'm stoked to be driving a somewhat unique car in a sea of E9x cars and M3s.

Ironically, that picture was taken IN San Francisco at a Barnes and Noble near the airport as I had a few hours to kill before a flight.
Living in LA, I know full well the sea of cars in which you speak. Only seen one 1M on the road, too, actually parked on my block at home once in Valencia Orange. You can go stare at Kouper's 135is convertible. I'll volunteer him for you. hahaha. just kidding. Now he'll kill me. |

You wouldn't happen to have the text of that cover article available anywhere would you? Looks like on bimmermag's site I need to buy a subscription to read it.

To sum it up, was very similar to the jalopnik article - was pro 135is as the last true bmw and driver's car - in manual, no nav/tech package. And it blasted the runflats as well if I remember correctly. I highly recommend ditching those as they really change how the car feels. |

Hi....don't post often but today was special. Bought a 135is that was in Transit (well leased with July Programs- August residuals are atrociously bad) - turning in my 2011 135i Sp Gry 6mt with +29K miles using the 3 month pull ahead offer. My 135is is at the port in NJ and is should be heading to Northern Virginia for my driving pleasure very soon- next weds - fingers crossed.
Carbon blk, blk int, Prem, Tech, DCT, HK, PDC, Heat Seats... As of today there were still 135is cars being produced and several in 112 status. So I could have custom ordered...but since its a lease and I want an the 135is NOW I decided to pick the one above. Hopefully in 30-33 months the M2 will be announced. That's the one I will buy, so for me this is a nice interim solution. Happy Days! Pics to follow. |

I'm somewhat in the same boat as well. I don't have any interest in the M235, but would be interested in seeing what the M2 looks like at some point, though production appears to be a couple years away perhaps. If that doesn't look good, or is in such limited numbers as the 1M, or is priced way too high, will gladly keep the 135is without hesitation. |

And yes...if you use the past as precedent. The 1M didn't come out until 3 almost 4 yrs after the 1 series introduction. IMHO pricing will likely be 5-8K more then the 1Ms is my best guess depending on qtys. Keeping the 135is is an option, but I get the new car itch and it consumes me. |
