Maintenance done for now. New plugs and coils feel great so far. Old ones were def on their way out.

Got some grime buildup on the old pulleys. Debating if I want to pull everything apart again and clean the engine block up really nice.

Just caught up on maintenance that set me back a good chunk of change. Oil Pan gasket was leaking and making a mess everywhere. Also replaced engine mounts with fresh OEM ones while the front-subframe was dropped.

Also officially biting the bullet on finishing this build. Got some 1M rear body panels incoming...

Outer Fenders are in. Body shop lined up for August.

Still want to source the inner 1M wheel wells. BMW has halted ordering of them. They are very expensive now compared to a couple years ago.

Was thinking E92 M3 inner wheel wells could work but need to study first.

Little bit of a leap of faith. Ordered e92 M3 inner wheel wells. Currently out 4-6 weeks directly from Germany.

Considering how much the 1M uses from the M3, im confident this should work. Attached pics of Morgan GS's e92 M3 conversion using the M3 wheel wells and pics of BillDaCat8's build showing the 1M's inner wheel well.

What are the part numbers for these? Trying to decide if it's worth waiting and the $$$ vs cutting and stretching.

The E92 M3 wheel wells are 41-00-8-045-857 and 41-00-8-045-858.

E92 M3 wheel wells are in quicker than expected. Overall fit isn’t bad. Some modification required like I thought but the part where the well and fender match up is about near perfect.

Looks like some cutting is all that's needed?

Correct. The ends don't match up so will likely have to do a similar setup as Morgan GS's e92 M3 conversion. Using part of the original 135i wheel well and the m3's to extend it. It is just sheet metal so it shouldn't be that hard to bend in to the shape needed.

We shall also see what my body shop wants to do, this is just giving them another option from splicing and flaring the 135i wheel well.

I'd imagine cutting and riveting is massively preferred to stretching. End product rigidity ought to be better too.

Took the opportunity to use BMW's 5% 4th of July discount to order OEM 1M/M3 Competition Wheels. Hopefully i can go pick them up this weekend.

Ill make a FS post in Sales section but if any one is interested in the AG M359 wheels i have now that are setup for 1M front end conversion / 135i rear please let me know.

Small photo dump.

Picked up the M359s from BMW. Need to order tires next. Thinking M3 GTS specs with 255 front and 285 rear.

Also got some vinyl in. Thinking it will be good to change up the color after all this body work.

Will be super easy to go even wider. Since I'm 275 square on my narrow body rear I was thinking 275 front and 305 rear.

Saw some reports of fitting 315 but I feel that's probably the limit.

I’ve seen that too. I figured gts setup is a good starting point.

Are you/have you done the M3 rear axle? Figure it doesn't matter with the M359 as it's a fairly conservative wheel for the 1M.

Not yet. I’m also still running the 135i hubs. Which basically has a 10mm built in spacer. So that will be interesting to see fitment once we starting putting this together.

Yeah it does.

Have you looked at the limited run flow formed AG M359 in 19x10/11 widths? I think it's et25 front and et28 rear. Might be my route.

I did not, that sounds super wide! I think going 255/285 right now on OEM wheels will be aggressive enough and a nice improvement over my current 255 squared setup.

Is BMW still producing the 1M quarter panels? Any issues ordering? I'm about to start a clone
