What are you seeing?
Tome the not just suspension bits, but rear subframe is a bit different looking as well. Like the control arm joint point.

its true that any 135i modded with good chips and ect..would be more powerful then the 1M. but what happened's when a 1M gets modded????

It's going to have the N55, per SCOTT26. My gut feeling says DCT too, so I'm not sure how Bimmerfile is getting these major details incorrect.

Well, you've got sources, and I only have hunches. So, I will defer to you Since the 135i has DCT, I think it is odd they cannot make it work in a 1M. Not to mention the 75%+ of the market that prefers something other than a traditional stick.

Registering to say, well done on what we've seen so far from the 1M. You guys don't look to have pulled any punches on the design. I'm sure many potential customers will be put off by not getting what they wanted, ie more horsepower, or a higher revving engine etc. But drivers like myself are absolutely ecstatic that we're being offered a balanced daily sports car with attitude, that to a degree satisfies a side to us that is worried about our actions in the environmental scheme of things. I no longer get joy from recklessness or absentmindedness (though I have served my time).
I listened to Dr. Kay's interview and was very pleased, I can definitely now say I'm an M fan. The future of sports cars will be safe with people like Kay behind it, ensuring BMW doesn't get left behind and ensuring that the pleasure and feel of driving a sports car doesn't get lost in EU (and no doubt NA) regulations. Last year I downsized and have enjoyed using a smaller engine for daily use - but I do miss the power somewhat. I'm counting the days to this 1M, feels like you made it to my specifications!

Awesome awesome car. The wider body and wheels/tires make it look extremely aggressive compared to the standard 135i. As I stated before, I should have waited and held on to my M3 a little longer. There is NOTHING like driving an M Series. I would be shocked though if you can get out the door with one for UNDER $60,000+ USD AFTER taxes, title, yada yada, yada.

There was a Prototype with M-DCT built for evaluation alongside the manuals , unfortunately because this is a (for M) a very cost effective project the costs threatened to spiral out of control in terms for the inclusion of an M DCT. There is also the time factor running against. Had we done this earlier then we would have had the time to accomodate.
With the introduction of the next generation 1er hatch less than twelve months away . The strategy is to take the 1M further away from the hatch so that both cars will be individually distinguished. or in simple form? The 1M is an M car . We are looking at a life span of just over 2 years for the 1M , the only reason for the go-ahead was to produce something that can be made quickly by using off the shelf parts. What we are looking at is since the first official video introduction is that serious interest is now over 10,000, it initially depends on the reaction and if there is demand. If BMW discover that there is demand for such a car then they might try to accomodate , it all depends on the outcome. For which there is no definite answer at this time. Although because there is more time for the engineers , the next generation 1M which will arrive in 2014 will be engineered to accept both transmissions. |
