Well that puts paid to VER for trying to play both sides of the coin. He runs HAM wide on the first lap but then expects room on the outside from HAM. VER is just a collision waiting to happen, others drivers took the curbs to avoid an accident, instead VER takes out HAM and took points off him.
This isn’t likely the last collision for VER the way he drives. |

From an amateur fan eye (mine) I would definitely put the blame on max for that one. Lewis was ahead at all times and in a tight chicane it would be unnatural and very difficult for him to veer all the way to the outside. If max was even with him there would be more of an argument for Lewis to move over but Lewis was clearly in front.
Max was carrying much more speed into the corner and thought he could sneak his way ahead with Lewis just leaving the pit but Lewis defended it well. |

Look, they’re the fastest and smartest racers in F1 currently and they both can read each other and they know what they’re doing. They both knew what it meant going into the chicane and they both knew the outcome. The penalty is a by-product and not the real issue. The real issue is that instead of sportsmanship and hard wheel-to-wheel racing we’re getting a 51 G impact with one and a tire almost killing the other. I’m really really pissed that Max had his car on top of Ham and his foot on the gas! Just like I was pissed when Ham didn’t seem (to me at least) to care about Max’s impact in Silverstone.

Anyone who has raced at any level or even driven on the track competitively knows that if you are alongside a car approaching the corner, that corner belongs to the inside driver. Max was outside forcing his position into a tight spot after very late braking and he simply chose to take his main competitor out and maintain the leading championship position. Did he expect a point by from a raining champ? I am not even a fan of Lewis but how can anyone blame him in this situation is beyond me. I am going to say that Max is a very talented and fast driver, but he is also the dirtiest driver out there and he knows that the only way he can beat Lewis is by dirty tactics. Period.

Something other than the back and forth drivel...
Having watched the post session interviews from Friday and Saturday, Ric's disposition was surprisingly positive and it really seemed like he knew he was going to win. I thought during each it was odd how giggly confident he was about their chances this weekend and then it happened..The 1,2. I cannot get over how strange it is/was. I'm a McLaren fan first, but it is pretty sus.

Watching that wreck, the first thing that popped into my mind was I couldn't wait to read the comments here haha.
To me, it was a racing incident but if fault is to levied it's on Max. I like Max such as many of you here, but Sir Lewis had that corner and Max pushed it. The stewards are correct. |

Regardless, this is racing and a close call like that doesn’t deserve a penalty.

With the cold tyres Ham knew Max had more grip and should have given more room instead of closing eyes and hoping for the best.. something the kneeling chaps' fans don't take into account. |

what an epic day for McLaren!! well done for both of them!
and for Lewis vs. Max.. when Lewis has no space to stay in the turn.. no crash just like in the first lap.. when Max has an imaginary space in his head thus no space.. he hits in to Lewis' car.. anyone cant see this.. there is no point even to argue.. its BS.. Max has to learn to race fair.. he thinks he can push anyone out easily.. but everyone has to give him plenty of room.. its pretty childish..

Okay then lets go back to Suzuka '89. Senna's attempted overtake on Prost, last I looked most of us were of the opinion that Prost turned into Senna knowing he was there and YOU backed Senna especially when Prost went to see his friend Balestre. ''If I see a gap I go for it or you are not a race driver'', so what's changed now.

Ham is an expert at making out he's always the 'victim' like pretending to struggle in the cockpit as Max walked past wanting fake attention..if Ham was a man he'd have stopped by Max after his 51G to see if Max was alright.

I see a lot of blaming of the drivers but both pit crews performed horribly and put them both in that position.

mate i highly recommend for you to search why Senna said that and actually more importantly what he told about this quote a year later..
and even if you re supporting that racing drivers must go for a gap when they can.. why were you so upset on Lewis' attack in Silverstone.. there was a gap and more importantly Lewis was alongside Max before Max even before the turn starts.. and Max didnt take the turn wide.. so you re basically saying Max can go for it but others cant.. one way or another doesnt make sense mate..

Speaking of dirty tricks though, it worked as Max increased his lead in the WDC, if only by a little. But a little probably counts this year. He had to a grid penalty sooner or later so why not make the move and see if it works. If not, they are still ok. Big question though does RBR have to pay MB for the damage now? And did Max go running to HAM to see if he was ok after spinning out on his head? |
