White 1M Crashed...

I passed an AW 1M that had been recently rear-ended this evening around 6:30ish on Mockingbird in Highland Park, near SMU. The police were still there, and the 1M still had the other car firmly lodged in its rear end.

I wasn't able to stop, but if the owner is on the boards, I hope you're OK. And very sorry about the car.

that really sucks for the owner.

On a brighter note.... I got an email from Jason at Vorslag today and camber plates are almost ready. He said they should get the first batch in any day and then they have to send them to be anodized. Shortly after that they will put the word out that they are LIVE. I am soooo ready to get these on my car so i can fly around corners like I am on rails.

I brought over the wrong link. The video should work now.

I totally screwed up by not getting more fuel Saturday night/Snuday morning and I missed you when i finally did make it out to the gas station.

Great seeing you this weekend... Definitely i should have been on track more. I really like Hallett... For the SW.. i think it is the best track in the area with the possible exception of MSR 3.1 . Beyond that one needs to drive all the way to Barber Motorsports park (Which is really Southeast) for a better track than Hallet..

of course we have a little track called COTA coming in that may change all of that..

What kind of lap times did the 1M run at Hallett and any video?

Found what looked like some of the video. Looks like 1:34ish on full stock setup?

Brian drove my car with the camber plates and RS3s and felt like it was much quicker than his car which is stock.

So yes. They are a Nobrainer to purchase. Aside from the 3.1, I think hallet is the best track in the region. Barber and High Plains Raceway in Colorado are better but over 10 hrs away.

We can definitely get you in for one day on the two step since you are in solo ( uber) advanced.

For all those attending the Texas Two Step, has anyone had any issues pulling up the tech. inspection and medical release forms through the MotorsportReg.com website? I'm not on my personal laptop, so emailing won't send it back to my email address easily.

I appreciate the help in advance and can't wait for this event to arrive!!!

sorry for the delay, i have been traveling for work. that would be about right for what i was able to capture on video. My best time was a 1:32 but i did a lot of 1:33's and 34s. my car is mostly stock. berk mid, AFE CAI, and track alignment w/NT05s. I only got a -1.3-5 of camber from the OEM set up but it does help. My video can be found on youtube... Mnimejcw is my channel and its posted there.

Nice vid. Wish you had a decent front view.

Other than your times, any idea what lap times other 1Ms were turning at Hallett? I know what my Miata will do, and have an idea what my 135i would do...

i think we were all close to the same. Mark can you advise? I think they may have been more consistent in the 32s though. I think Ken O was putting down 28s in his E46 M3.

Those 1:28s are on a really well sorted car. I am guessing it was on rcomps vs you guys on stock street tires.

I drove his car to help build some seat time for a run at trophing at the Blytheville Tri-State tour in STU a few years ago.

I would think the 1m with a proper setup and good driver could put down times in the 1:28 or a little better at Hallett. Just the fact that the 1m should pull the hell out of a e46 M3 down the two straights is worth a few tenths.

Yes street tires for me...soft tires NT05s but still street tires. Yes Ken was on Rcomps too. It was my first time at that track and I agree a better driver and set up the 1M should be able to get into those times too or at least under 1:30. haha...maybe next year

agree.. Ken was on Hoosiers and is an extremely well setup car with pretty much all the major mods... Exhaust.. Epic tune.. camber plates... ASTs coilovers .. 285/30/18 on 18 x 10 on all four corners, a race seat and belts and and all the interior removed.

I don't count Ken Os lap times...that car/driver combo is impressive. But if I can get my Miata down in the 1:31.xxx, I would hope a 1M with a good driver could best that..l

Track guys: anyone purchase track insurance for the 1M? I have done a few events with the 1M so far without it. One off track experience at Houston MSR, so plenty of run off room and no damage (other than a ton of grass and mud all over the car). It would almost double the cost of going out there, but for a 50k+ car it might be worth it.

Would be interested to hear some fellow DWFers opinions.

I've instructed 1M Tex a few times and I recall him saying he's purchased it. Personally I don't quite understand what the point is in TX though. Your insurance company will pay for the damage as long as it happens at a Driver's Education type of event.

+1 to Robertm comment.

I have State Farm and I periodically check with my agent to make sure nothing has been changed in the policy I am not aware of. He always checks with his underwriters and as long as its not a "timed event or a race" then you s/b covered. He also tells me to get a certificate so I can get a discount...that always cracks me up.
