i wonder if they will add the ability to reset adaptations through Carly V2. im having the same problems with the lag on California stops as everyone else. but im afraid if i take it to the dealer to update the software they will somehow remove my ppk, i know im paranoid haha.

I just got one of the ECS scanner tools, I really liked the idea of being able to keep it in the car and perform an throttle adaptation reset whenever it's needed without having to use my laptop as I would with Bavarian Technic cable/software.
But, I can't figure out how to change any adaptations -- the adaptations menu item doesn't appear in any of the modules (as it shows in the manual). I've got an open ticket with ECS to see if they can help me troubleshoot or determine if it's unsupported on the 1er -- will keep you guys posted. |

Never heard back from ECS product support re: no options for adaptation resets on their new scanning tool. Ended up returning it. Between that and the fact that Windows Defender reported "severe threat" malware when I plugged it into my laptop, I cannot recommend that device.
So...interesting development...went on a longer trip last weekend. The highways were empty, and I used cruise control (which I never use) to avoid approaching the speed of sound. When I flipped the cruise lever to off to resume manual control, the throttle was very responsive. And the low-speed lag we're all so familiar with appears to be gone. The car feels as though the throttle adaptation has been reset. It's been great for the past week. Would be interesting to see if using cruise control is a workaround...how awesome would that be? Feel free to experiment and post your results. |

Just had PPK installed on my 2012 DCT with PE after having 12-15-14 programmed at the dealer. Lost all wonderful noises and felt detuned. Do not have the proper option code, s840, so dealer would not download PPK, but Bren Tuning with a lot of work due to the anti-tuning software, was able to make it stick. Dyno run showed nice gains in both hp and torque, but best of all, she rumbles. A big shout out to Brendan and Ben at Bren Tuning.

Just look up "BMW INPA K Cable" on eBay, you'll find a couple dozen listings for around $35. Ones with diagnostic software will be more but PM me if you're looking to just clear codes/adaptations (as opposed to do any kind of coding).

To Dinan, or not to Dinan....
Looking for feedback from any n55 135 owners who have installed the Dinan Stage 2 software. I have a 2013 135is and struggling over the benefits vs potential issues.
Have those who've installed been happy and any concerns over long term issues? Does the exhaust note become louder (as an SA has told me)? Not tracking the car (its a 'vert) but like to drive spirited and aside from the extra power, I'm attracted to the improved responsiveness that I've heard accompanies the software. Looking to make a move soon as there is a 10% discount in March and I can get done at a local BMW dealer. Any replies/advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance! |
