However, most people want angel eyes + xenons, so the the vast majority of people buy depos + HID kit. Most of the vendors sell the depos only with HID kit anyways. Now, the angel eyes on the depo consist of 4 bulbs. They are pretty yellow and hard to see during the day so most people just buy different bulbs to give them a brighter, more white look.

yeah, that's what i meant i shouldve been more clear. I'm looking into getting these, but what are the replacement angel eye bulbs that are much brighter and whiter?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEPO-08-11-B...ht_9599wt_1163 I'm just trying to make sure i get everything the first time around so i only have to take my bumper cover off once. Has anybody had any errors or anything with these? thanks for the help! edit: and i wanted to add, since these have the clear signals, do i have to get yellow signal bulbs too? if so where can i get those?? absolutely loving these lights. pain to get them adjusted correctly, but now they're perfect and they look awesome.
also VERY difficult to get pictures of them(with an iphone) clearly. these were my best attempts. |

Looks great! I'll be next on the list; I'm about to order both.
A Question though - when you plugged everything in, what controls the AE rings? When are they on and when are they off? Did you have to do any wiring mods or did it just all work when you fired 'er up? What about ballasts - mounting? Did you get the 8000 or 6000 Xenons? After seeing how this mod has evolved from a mishmosh of acquired parts to an easily purchased kit (or so it seems) I think I am ready to make the plunge...

Plugged everything in, before i mounted them back up and everything worked perfect. I mounted the ballasts to the frame rails in the front, kinda an obvious mounting spot but i wasnt really concerned with how it looks since it works well. i got the 8000k both xenon and SMG LED bulbs.
oh yeah, the AE rings come on with full headlights or in the parking lights location, but sadly the halogen highbeams stay on with the parking lights and the corner markers also come on. no way to just have angel eyes on without some coding, i'm working on getting that done next. |

Oh that's funny, so when parking light is on, the indicators are too?
Also, do you have a link for the eBay depos?

Yes, that is how all US spec cars work. When the headlights are on... the turn signal bulb is on. Then IF you signal it also gets brighter and flashes. The RoW(Rest of the World) works differently. They only come on when you signal. US guys want clear turn signals. German guys want the orange US lights! Some German guys even get their car's lights to be coded to work like US cars do.

Update on the coding, while i havent actually tried anything, i talked to a coder and he pretty much told me, if the angel eyes only come on when the markers come on.. they're wire together and no coding can fix that. The only way around it would be to re wire the headlights. so i just leave my headlights in the ON position all the time and i'm happy with it. makes my blacklines look cool too anyway.

I believe they are either officially from sonar or Modified and resold with CCFL

Do they have an adjuster for left and right-hand drive vehicles? Many do not and there is no way to NOT blind other drivers.

they actually do have adjusters for both up and down, and left and right. i managed to get them aimed pretty well, i don't get flashed very often at all and they're retardedly bright.

These are the dual side-firing LED's used in my current DEPO headlights
http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-SMD-LED-T...ht_9479wt_1163 and these are the actual headlight units themselves as i installed them http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEPO-08-11-B...190467?vxp=mtr With these two combined, you get what i posted on the page previously. they have vertical and left and right aiming, all of the bulbs and ballasts already installed(made it easier since i've never used HID's) and gave me ZERO dashboard lights. It worked out perfectly. and for the money, i think they look great and they light up the road very well. |
