Nice. Is that the stock bmw pe that came on the IS? Tone sounds a little diff than mine but maybe just the audio clip. Did you go stage 2 before stage 3?

All,
I just picked up a 2012 DCT with 25k miles and am experiencing the idle, lag issues reported at the beginning of this thread. I am out of factory warranty Do I just go into the dealer and request to have the SIB 12 15 14 updated onto my vehicle? is this done for free? TIA |

My CPO 2012 DCT 135i has the throttle lag/rpm fluctuation issues, and I have PPK installed. Its getting pretty intolerable. Has anyone gotten the software updates covered under CPO warranty? I don't want to pay the 300 dollars I know my dealer would charge me for programming.

IIRC, there was a member not too long ago who was out of warranty, and his dealer wanted to charge him for the software update and he wrote a letter to BMWNA stating it was a safety issue and they approved the update free of charge.

Found the thread where the member wrote a letter and got the software update free of charge:

Hi everyone!
I've been having the same problem with my car almost since I bought it. Car: 2013 135i N55 with DCT (no PPK) Symptoms: - Engine Stuttering - Jerkiness Stalling with A/C - Car jumps forward when coming to a stop... it kinda feels like when doing a "heel-toe" downshift from 2nd gear to 1st gear including a knock noise from the engine fighting to keep it running on very low RPMs. - The car started to have these issues since stock at around 8000 miles. Current mods on my car: - JB4 with ISO mod and JB4 connect kit - BMS Intake - Helix FMIC - Megan Racing Downpipe - Mid resonator deleted - COBB Chargepipe Actions already taken to attempt to fix the issue: - Took the car to the dealer for a software update (Mentioned the SIB 12 15 14)...... Didn't fix it - Did a DCT adaptations reset via Tool32 on a K+DCAN cable.... Didn't fix it - Did a Throttle Adaptations reset (regular pedal procedure)...... Didn't fix it - Updated my JB4 firmware to the latest version and switched to Map 5.... Didn't fix it - Regular oil change on the N55 engine.... Didn't fix it - Scanned the car for old codes... No codes saved I'm lost now guys, Every single thread on any forum suggest to bring the car to the dealership and mention the SIB 12 15 14... but this DID NOT fix my issue. Summer is coming and hot weather is increasing... A/C must be turned on almost all the time. The car feels awful when coming to a stop and jumps forward like it's about to launch hard... One notorius symptoms is that the car does this only when the DCT and N55 engine achieve the regular temperature conditions. It does not do it on cold transmission temps. PLEASE HELP! |

I had the same problem for a long time and on the dealer they always had the same answer "there is nothing wrong with the car", until one day they found out that the battery was configured with a lower amp that the actual one. They adjusted that and now it is working fine.

I also have that in mind, but what type of vaccum leak would be only affected with the AC on? Is there any mechanism, or hose that produces vaccum while the AC is on?

So I had the DME update and after picking the car up and driving home my car threw the trans temp Amber warning light. Never went red. Had to take it back and fourth; first it looked like it was the update, then a bubble in the system, and finally had to open a case with BMW NA.
They said it was the DCT Combination switch sensor. SO I had them go ahead and fix that. I will be picking it up on Tuesday. Hopefully everything is all good. |

Anyone who needs to get this done because of the DCT "lurch" or stalling, please do, it will remedy the issue.
However, and I have stated this in other threads, be sure to contact BMW USA and your dealership BEFORE getting this done. I was able to get them to cover the cost of this and others have had luck as well. Be polite and patient. Also, speaking with the the dealerships service manager helps as well. Another thing to remember with COBB users (like myself) is that this update will include a new ROM revision - 98G1B. This will render your V3 useless for now. COBB is aware of the problem and working to fix it but its been six months so I wouldn't hold my breath. |

My '11 135i convertible is at BMW of Dallas right now getting recall work, a water pump failure replaced and some other things. Having that nice sound and gurgle off throttle would be great. I'll have to see if they'll be so kind as to do this while they're finishing it up.
Is SIB 12 15 14 going to do that though? I'm assuming that is a date for the flash. Is there any updates to make things better since then? |
