I received a book along with a certificate the other day in the mail. But get this.....I don't own the car. :iono:
What do you think is going on here? A few things that are running through my mind......identity theft, clerical mistake, contest winner. |

You should call your local BMW dealership right away. If it has your name on it than you could have a real problem. If it has another name on it than someone is running to their mailbox every day in vein. |

Received my book last Friday and the welcome package on Monday. Took delivery on July 18. After looking at the DVD on BMW, I'm shocked that they are having any warranty problems at all given all the testing especially on items such as the fuel pump and whistling around the windows. How could this happen?
The DVD was well done but no one can drink that much kool-aide. |

I contacted my CA several times before I finally got a follow-up with confirmation that I have been "added to the list" and should get it soon. That was over a month ago! Me thinks someone has dropped the ball I don't mind following-up on this but I don't really know who to contact other than the dealership but that hasn't helped to this point. Maybe I need to try a different dealership Call

not my car....
I posted this previously "I received a book along with a certificate the other day in the mail. But get this.....I don't own the car. :iono:
What do you think is going on here? A few things that are running through my mind......identity theft, clerical mistake, contest winner." BMW representative informed me that it was just a clerical error. It was sent to me by mistake. They will be sending the actual owner out another copy. So, I guess this one is mine to keep? Don't know why I would keep someone elses owners manual complete with certificate. It is a quality looking book. Makes me kind of want one (car that is). I think this might have been some kind of marketing ploy! Wonder if the original owner would want another copy of his book? I bet I could get it out faster to him than bmw could! |

I called BMWNA today and found out why I haven't received my Commemorative Book. Seems as part of the process the dealership must enter fulfillment information after delivery of a vehicle. My dealership failed to do so until I called them about it in August 22, 2008, 5 months after I took delivery of my ONE from PDC.
They also said that the Commemorative Book is set to go out approximately 6-8 weeks after the Welcome Kit is sent so that means I have a few more weeks to wait. They also said the certificate number is based off the VIN so I should have a very low number even though I am late getting the Commemorative Book. That's good new, bad news. This Book is kind of cool to be getting and it isn't like it's brain surgery so it's a little further down the line of important things to get pissed about; however, it does appear I'm not as special to my dealership as I thought You could say that is now a two-way street Film at 11 Call

I'm beginning to give up on ever seeing the book. Will they really reprint it just for us? The 2008s are pretty much over now, right?

Very Pissed Off
Finally got my book today, but the post office/mailman damaged the top right corner. there's a kink there, and it's soooo deep that it damaged Hard Cover and most of the pages inside.....
ARrrrrr!! really pissed off. Waited for so long for it to come and it's damaged, and pretty much no chance of having BMW resend me a new one. Anyways.... I'm #5663, Date Of Manufacture: May 2008, Delivery Date June 2008. |

I called BMWNA about the book today. I did get my welcome kit back in July. He said that the book is typically meant to be shipped out 2 weeks after the welcome kit. My address was correct. They were going to look into it and call me with an update.

akak1997,
Bet they would print you another one. What does it hurt to ask? Worst they could do is say no. Beside they acted like it was no big deal that sent me someone elses book. They were like "we will just send the owner out another copy". Best of luck. |
