i guess that's a difference between hatch and coupe though actually, you have a sealed boot where the muffler is, i have an open one lol Quote:
+1 to wanting to know what mods you did? i've found a few race prepped 130i's through google in excess of 300hp, but they're not easy to get a hold of the owners for info >_< |

You already have it. It is the variable DISA valves from the 130i/330i/X5 3.0. It basically makes the 128i into a 130i.

Please give us more info, sounds like your car was treated very well by a tuner

Raceman mentioned that step 1 is to bump 125i to 130i 265hp, that's to tweak the valvetronic & disa of the 125i. Step 2 is to tune that 265hp that more & use secondary cat delete exhaust. I think DISA and AA only get us step 1 And any exhaust and intake max out at 10 hp total

Dropped my 135i at the dealership to get a car wash and top off my oil, got a loaner 2012 128i with steptronic auto and boy that car feels light on its feet. The automatic is smooth and peppy. Great car!

Coming from an 07 Acura TL I fell head over heals for the lightness and balance of my new 128i. I realize that the 135i is probably a beast; but, for now the 128i is perfect for me.

my buddy and i swapped cars when i bought my 135i . He drove a modded 128i with exhaust and filter and some other stuff. All i can say is my car was way more fun and alot faster than his in every way. His was manual and mine auto.

If you can afford it go for the 135i. I had a 128i for about 15 months and traded it in and got a 1M when I was able to get an allocation. While the 135i won't quite compare to the 1M if I had to go back to when I was first deciding between the 128i and the 135i I would go for the 135i this time around. And no, the 128i is only available with the clunky old 6 speed automatic. The new 8 speed found in most BMWs with automatics these days is not an option (my girlfriend has it in her X3 and it's wonderful in my opinion). With the 135i if you don't get the manual you get the 7 speed dual clutch transmission. I haven't driven it personally but I hear it's very nice. Last edited by mrow; 10-23-2012 at 04:37 PM.. |

Hell no!
Not bashing the 135i....actually never driven the N55 engine yet and it must absolutely be smashing to drive. Drove my uncle's 2008 M3, so I know that I could enjoy more power.....but for me? 23 years old when I bought my 128i with 6MTnew in June. One of the dealers asked me why I hadn't gone with the 135i, while I surely could afford it, I just wanted a pure N/A engine. Coming from a MKIV GTI I did not want to hear a turbo, and if I did I know I could always hop into my GTI and open it up! But the 128i was perfect for me. 6 speed, GREAT handling, I6 engine. Period. The sunroof and P1 package with heated seats, heated steering wheel were just a nice bonus. Besides I love using the sunroof in the summer.....but the girls dont I bought what I want, and I am extremely happy!

I like the 1 Series because of its size and agility combined with premium construction and amenities. I've never been seduced by big power so the 128 is perfect for me.

Got mine only a few weeks ago... ended up with the 6 spd auto trans, since it was at no additional cost over the manual, and plus, living in SoCal, the traffic can get rough. Nevertheless, the naturally aspired inline 6 is packs a punch, and feels like an oversized engine stuffed in a compact chasis.

I have a 125 tuned to 274hp.
IMO 125/128 is funnier because: -No understeer (51%/49%) -ready for lsd install Plus all that is good with NA: throttle response, sound, reliability.
