Black performance grilles are on. I love the look. Easy install too.

Nice. Looks like the pictures were taken at the south course. Haven't been on it personally. I've only been on the north course. Fun track.
Here's me there. I know it's not a 135is but at least it's a BMW. Turn 1 Turn 4-5 |

Is that the BMW CF spoiler on the back? Love how it blends with the black.

Just picked up my car from having the SIB 12-15-14 done (DCT fix). I saw a dude in a grey 135is w/ coral red interior. He went in for an oil refill (that's what it looked like anyway). If you see this, hi. I was at Pacific BMW
About the SIB, I expected to come in and complain about the issue and they do it considering that this is as good as a recall IMO. Nope, I had to prove the symptoms. My car for some reason did not show any symptoms until the last stop before he told me to bring the car back. The car's rev jumped to 1100rpm upon stopping, throttle was delayed, and car lurched forward. My adviser was like "yup, that's it huh?" My thoughts on how the car is now: - throttle delay is virtually gone. I'd say 80% of it is gone now, well compared to a DCT Z4, it's pretty much the same. - I've only done 15 miles of city and short mountain driving. No lurching experienced whatsoever. - On the downside, the shifts are less robust now, less impactful, and IMO less exciting. On the other hand, the shifts a lot more seamless and smoother. Update: - rev increase is actually pretty much gone now - burbles...it's harder to make it burble. I've been trying 1st gear and letting off the throttle at ~3k rpm and still not a single burble. With sport mode on and letting off at similar rpm, it burbles for a long time. Before the update, I wouldn't need the sport button and it would burble a good amount by letting off at ~2000rpm. - exhaust note seems to be reduced, IDK why or how. It could just be my mind playing games. I'll ask for other opinion on this. Do I think the update is worth it? if the car is your daily, yes. Since my car is my daily, then I think it's worth it. I would love to run the full course. Quite envious that you have had that opportunity. Have you been on the track before? Just curious if you had and what your impressions are of the repaving they did for this year.

This was my 4th track weekend at VIR. After the paving the track is very smooth and it seems there is more grip. They also paved outside the curbing on the exit at oak tree (where everyone was going off and there was dirt) and also on the track out of turn 3 going into 4. The paddock area is also paved which is nice! No more sand all over everything

Took my rear passenger tire to the tire place near by and put my snows on. I had a 3.5 inch nail in the tire, it was able to plugged and will be put away until spring. Ill have to check again in the spring to see how the plug holds up. I have heard differing opinions on whether or not the plug will hold but lets hope they can last me another 2-5k miles, wear out the last of the treads.

Had some free time so decided to put on the winter wheels now. BUT before doing so had to get 1 photo shoot of the new suspension with its 313's!

This is the best thing I've seen on this thread in a while. Most of it is useless chatter. I troll simply because I own an 'is' and am hoping I'll find something meaningful. Anyways, awesome shots. Super jealous.

Thanks I'm starting to realize the Dinan drop maybe more than advertised whereas BMW PS might be a little less than advertised. I wouldn't want to go any lower, this is probably the limit of my comfort level for daily driving.

Car is finally going in for the DME update for DCT "lag". SA told me I should expect to leave the car overnight so I got a 328i as a loaner, which was surprisingly good (review posted here). I’ll update you guys on how the car turns out.

Thanks. Didn't really want to derail the thread but thought it was sort of appropriate given the post I responded to.

It also rained on the second day of my track school this year. One of the instructors took a student bike out on the track and deemed it too dangerous for any of us to go out. He said the traction control was kicking on even when he was going in a straight line with moderate throttle. It was a good thing he did this because we didn't know how the track would be in a rain situation over last year with the old pavement. I agree it is nice the paddock area doesn't have the dirt/sandy surface it did last year. But again during the rain storm which hit us at the end of the second day, the run off was streaming like a river through the paddock area to the point where it was literally a river with areas of severe ponding. One of the workers there said they'll have to address this issue as it was pretty ridiculous. |
