No problem, it's a fair question. I am paid on commission so having you call me directly or mentioning my name when ordering online is beneficial to me. Gill

Again, not being an ass but I have a question. Over the last three or four years I have spent quite a bit with TR - 5 sets of tires, 2 sets of wheels, various suspension components etc and every time I ask for a little discount I am turned down. Is it some kind of policy?

Most big retailers are not swap meets. The price is the price.

This is true of the Tire Rack, and the vast majority of the competition.

I see that the configurator is now up...
Not liking the results though. I thought we could fit larger wheels (based on some earlier reports), and when made a selection I got very few possible tire choices. |

Their suggested tire sizes are not in line with what I was thinking. Yes, very limited choices. Strange that only the CK from BBS is deemed compatible by Tirerack???

The wheel selection absolutely stinks. Only BBS CK? There are definitely offsets for LM and RGR that would fit the 135i.
http://www.bbs-japan.co.jp/pro/wheel/lm.html http://www.bbs-japan.co.jp/pro/wheel/rgr.html The only wheel I would consider getting in that meager list of 89 is the volk RE30, but when I got to add %$%$ing tires, it doesn't list RE050a (non-runflats) or PS2's. |

Wow, weird wheel selection/tire fitments.
Seems MUCH more conservative than what some have already put on the car. 205s all around on all the aftermarket wheels? People have fit 235-255s. Is there a reason you folks reccomend bicycle tires? PS: I appreciate your work in getting this list up, but I wonder why you reccomended the size tires you did? 205/50 on 17 inch wheels? One of the mods fit 255s all around.

Thanks to Gill, I'm going with a set of 18x8.5 wheels (my avatar) and 245x35 tires all around. We think it can be done without spacers in front, but if not I'm OK with that.

205/50 would be an awkward size for that. Very small contact patch, and very tall sidewall.

Is the very limited availability a function of the offsets for this car? Wow slim pickins' and oddly conservative tire and wheel sizing.
Can you give us some feedback on that Gill?

As for the wheels, our engineers have measured the 135i and listed everything that fits the car correctly while keeping the tires within the wheel wells. This car is not an E90 fitment so those that try E90 sizing may very well be disappointed with the results. If you have any questions give me a call. We can work wonders with the tire sizing but there aren't many choices available outside the listed wheels without taking large risks. Gill
