The last few weeks havent been so bad. Yesterday was the only day in a while that I can recall with typical London rain.

The all white look will be interesting to see, my last white car, a TX3 that I had back in the mid 90's ran matching white alloys, a massive 15" lol
As for the black, my OPC is already running gloss black so need a change and have been keen on the hyper black for some time but never got around to giving it a try, so now is that time |

Amazing ride, and what I'm getting after the 135 lease is up, but I think it looks more like Falkor from the Neverending Story more than a polar bear...

It might follow some of Falkor's looks but not Falkor's somewhat sedate temperament, and the 1M is definitely no sleepy dragon lol

Firstly - Aussie WOW!! After seeing your photos I think I need to get myself one of those rear spoilers. It looks superb and really finishes the back of the car off!
Secondly - where and how much do they charge to spray your wheels in that wonderful colour (don't worry I'm not trying to copy you, but those wheels look stunning). Thirdly - Jez, where did you get the black side repeaters from? I'd quite like a set of those Last edited by ChrisBuer; 12-22-2011 at 02:23 AM.. |

Chris - I think Jez had ordered them from IND (Nate) in the US.
I'm interested in some too - if the postage is a big amount then maybe we order together (I work in the east side of London, so not too far from you maybe?) Aussie - those wheels do look great. Been debating whether to do mine in some sort of anthracite too - just unsure what finish would like best on my BSM. Although I may need to save the pennies as I'm getting more and more tempted by the akra... |

As for the side indicators, I ordered a set many months ago from IND tracked them and they vanished, the courier company they used (Useless Parcel Service) 'supposedly' just dropped them at the front door in full view, no card left, not signed for and no package was ever found, no one from that end would take full responsibility (the investigation went on for well to long or forgot about more like it), I was offered a discount on another set but am out of pocket for the original order...... Not sure if you would call that great customer service but ah well lol Best to remove your oem jobbies (very easy to remove and refit) and have them painted to match, would be much cheaper & easier option than being hammered with tax in the US and an input duty this end. Akro would be nice but I can not justify 5k for a full exhaust system for a general use car, can still get the same sort of benefits (performance and sound) on a system half the price...... |

This is what i had done with my side indicators, car is now 6 months old with 6k miles on it and they still look perfect. My two tone rear spoiler gets lots of + comments |

I love that look, really just a difference in tone but so much better, reminds me the E39 M5 wheels as well that I adored at the time. Since I am also after that look, but in a wrong country obviously, I am trying not to leave my wheels in the hands of some people who don't know what they are doing. May I ask how you plan to do this? Powdercoating? And how and where you will be totally sure about the quality and durability of this job? Is there a paint code or something you are going to ask for? Your answers might just give me some ideas, thanks in advance. |

I seen you made the leap from fwd to rwd, nice one, so how you enjoying it? Yeah really enjoying the 1M hey, just need to get to that magic 1200mile mark (760 at present) then I can give her the full beans and see what its all about, but so far during run in, yeah I must say its bloody great. As for the astra, a number of track days per year and thats about it now plus a trip to the ring for good measures but come 2012 I think it is only right to take the 1M So how you been anyways? |

I have no more cosmetic plans after the wheel treatment to be honest, I think that will finish it off nicely and I will be content (maybe the carbon wing mirror covers to match the rear spoiler lol), I still have my track day astra to mess about with when the urge kicks in but that has been more purposeful over cosmetic, I am though currently taking measurements on front clearance entering and exiting my garage, my astra does scrape (minor) on clubsports and on inspection the 1M has millimeters clearance only and I mean millimeters so that may end up throwing suspension upgrades right out the window if I want to keep my front bumper attached to the car........... As for the wheels in hyper black, its a paint sequence of a chrome and black over a number of coats, my mate who owns and runs a panel beater/paint shop looks after all my cars and dabbles in classic rebuilds (ie Jags etc) so knowns his stuff, and with this type of finish he will use a wheels specialist he generally uses on a number of classic rebuilds etc, I will leave it in his capable hands. |

Thanks for the quick reply. I need to find a good place here with reliable reference, there won't be any easier way to do this. If not, I better don't do it I guess.
Interesting, my garage entry-exit is the same situation and I just developed a certain way to get out and another one to get in, and this is after very slightly touching the ground a few times About the carbon wing mirrors, my advice, don't! All AWs including yours is all about the maximum contrast effect and clean look; the shadow line, the two tone colour of the mirrors, rear diff. or slight tint at the back windows etc. with overall AW. The mirrors in CF will contradict with and even ruin that effect instead of complimenting your spoiler. Of course, this is just how I see it. Thanks again. |

For the wheels mate, I would recommend you search for a reputable wheel repair centre, they generally are your best bet over a automotive spay and repair centre when it comes to specialist wheel paint jobs, I know how hard it can be to find good painters these days......
Re the carbon wing mirrors, I see where you are coming from and somewhat possibly agree in some way, but then I have yet to see a set in the flesh on a AW 1M. I actually like the gloss black and white contrast, in someways a darker mirror cover may lose that appearance and they are a nice mirror set up, but I need to check out the covers first..........other than the wheels in the new years, I think that will be it for external cosmetic changes, but what is your thoughts on a gloss black roof wrap?
