If only APEX would come out with a 17" wheel for us. They have one for every other vehicle they make wheels for (except the mustang) . . .

If they made a 1er fitment 17" EC-7 I'd buy them in a heartbeat. The trend with wheels seems to be 18"+ sizing is the most popular so I'm afraid we're the minority. |

I'm ET40 + a 5mm spacer to clear my front coilover, so I'm effectively running ET35. I needed to roll front fenders a bit to make sure I don't rub on high compression. But I'm also running quite low, so I needed to roll I need to find ways to fit 17x9s on the car along with 255 tires |

I'll take some pictures of the 17x9s when I put them on. It won't be apples to apples due to suspension differences but its better than nothing. |

I think the issue with a 17" up front is the strut gets in the way. I don't think 17x8.5 ET45 will fit. There isn't enough space up front.
Here's 18x8.5 ET45. Dropping to 17" means you hit the strut. ET40 might work, but then you lose 5mm of space.

I'd be fine with a 17x8" with proper offset if that is needed. I've pretty much accepted that I'll eventually get 17" ARC-8 with 235 summer tires at some point but I'm not entirely thrilled about having to "make it work". I've got an M3 that takes up all my play money right now anyways so I'm not too worried about it. |

Thanks for @JVB for pointing me to this thread.....
Hi all, my brothers got my old BBK setup which was for my 130i E81 which I never fitted to my car but only to realise that the rears are different fitting for the sodding E82 125i - The rear discs are different so guess they can be changed? - Rear caliper not fitting as the mounting hole bolts aren't long enough? (going on what he told me) - Hand brake shoe wont fit? can be modded? Looking at the first post which Part numbers would he need to fit the Performance calipers on the rear? Any help would be great Last edited by PixelVogue; 03-26-2015 at 04:31 PM.. |

I run 18's in summer, but 17's for winter (more sidewall is better for all the winter potholes here).

The solution is one of 3 choices - I will edit here later to explain ( enlarged 125i 128i brake shoes, custom fit 130i/135i brake shoes with welded piece, e46 m3brake shoes) Quote:
If so all you need is 2x 130i Hub 2x new 125i rear bearing cuz it will be damaged on install. Handbrake solution OR if you want new rear rotors, it is just this: 2x 135i rear rotors Handbrake solution both solutions will have you bend back/ cut the rear dust shield a bit

yeah no prob. Since you have the BMW Perf brke kit, its easiest for you to get juat 135i rear rotors and cut the dust shield

So to use the 130i PBMW kit all I need is the 135i rotors and a handbrake solution? Will the 135i rotors work with the PBMW calipers? Are they different size to the PerfBMW ones?

Just 135 rotors for your case. The calipers are same as 135i. Also, I have this setup without handbrake solution. To make fit I cut 2 inch lines in the brake dust sheild like a flower petals and bent it back. I will post soon about handbrake. For others who want to switch Hubs. Your 135i rotors will not work and need to review the OP for part numbers.

Thanks for all the work. I had just printed the stats a month or so ago in case I lost this thread. I plan to make this mod when I need new rotors. My car has 75k miles now, still on my original brake pads but in the shop now and I plan to have them at least change pads.

Some on the forums make 125i/128i brake shoes and weld them to 135i brake shoes in the new diamater But below is better idea i think that uses less welding, And if you use e46 m3 handbrake shoes maybe no welding at all: This is how to make 135i large handbrake shoes to work - see the z4 forum link Quote:

My mechanic (Solo Motorsports in Norcross, GA near Atlanta) worked this out for me today. Didn't sound like it quite went like this thread proposed but once he got the proper combination of parts it worked including still having an E-brake.
So now my 45 offset rear wheels will be like 55 offsets. It really would have made more sense to have done this before I rolled and trimmed the heck outta my fenders, went to a lightweight battery, removed my rear seat, ran max factory camber, etc. I'll still keep all those mods except I'll go back to around 1.5deg rear camber. I need new tires, my current 255 PSS's were very difficult to get to somewhat fit. Now I'll just have to check everything out very closely and decide whether to risk going up to 265s, probably not.

So you gained 10mm?!
I'd be interested to hear more details on the parts he used. |
