not sure how these goes, but when on your L's & P's its about technique and posture (assume you want to upgrade to liter bikes later) not really about power or speed... unless you are a really fast learner

Anyways, what did you like more, the S1000RR or the 1199 Panigale S. Both of those bikes are badass! |

I'm thinking of getting my bike license. However, I'll be getting something a bit different to yours Vin. A Ducati Monster 596 is in my sights.

Thanks Edwin. Break-in is killing me, things really get going above 8000rpm. Feels a lot different to the N54.

I wanted to learn the dynamics and how to manoeuvre a bike before jumping into the deep end. The 300 is a good compromise. You get better deals buying any LAMS bike 2nd hand though. I think in your case you will be fine on a bigger bike because you already cycle so it will come naturally. The 696 is a very nice bike, if you're set on it I would go for it Quote:
I've followed both, they are both beasts. The S1000RR runs a 9 second 1/4 stock in a lot of reviews If I could ride those bikes I'd be happy with either. The S1000RR seems like better bang for buck but the Ducati is piece of art. |

I personally don't think it will be faster then the S1000RR down a straight line, but where r u going to pull those speeds? not even on a track can u hit 280+ unless you are very very talented or has balls of steel here in SYD on the road the Ducati is much eaiser to ride due to weight and where the weight is, I mean its 14kg heavier then your bike but with extra 114KW

Vin, the Monster I'm looking at is the 659, so it fits the LAMS criteria.

I wouldn't own anything but a Ducati. Motorcycles are all about ego anyway, no matter how you look at it, how you ride or what your skill level.

The weight of the Ducati is unbelievable, must be very easy to ride. My neighbour has the exact same as yours, next to his F430. It sounds the goods. Gave him a little rev of my ninja as I drove past.. he didn't seem too notice Quote:
I agree Kenny, you won't want anything else after a Ducati. They are the best. I will pick one up some day but I dig the Sport and Super-sport style bikes and nothing was available in ducati for lams. May get something after my lams but everything Ducati make is too quick, all in or nothing! |

I wasn't going to comment until I saw the word Ducati.
+1 on the Ducati, I just bought myself a white 696. It is such a good bike. The only thing I can say about the 659, if you buy brand new, is it is very expensive. Same amount of coins as the bigger 696. Nice looking Ninja, Congrats. You guys are all in other states, anyone in Melbourne who has a bike as well? and want to ride let me know.

DUCATI
Come on guys Ducati when they are new they are fine, but you best shed the beast before it sees 20,000km coss no one will want to own it.
The BMW S1000R is out of this world it is with out compromise, it is the best sports bike out there at the moment, you can keep all your Italian crap. And Vinn the little Kawasaki is a gem you will love it, Just make sure that your next bike is a Harley. |

I reckon I survived my motocycle days, I kinda feel like I used up all my luck. Not sure I'll get another bike. But if I did I'd get another litre Ducati and really REALLY tight leathers and just ride to my local cafe once a week and swagger around like I've got a really big cock. Then ride home.
