This is going to be the car that will go done in the history books that will once again save BMW, not that she needs saving but will ensure she stays independent.....the only people who don't want this car are the people who are smug that they own a 3 series..but this will ensure money losing cars like M5's and M3's are around...great move BMW

This is going to be the car that '08 M3 buyers wished they had bought.

Anybody read the ///M thread linked in the original post? Lost of misinformation, i.e. weight/E92 is wider....
I see how bad information makes it across the internet so fast, remotely humerous... |

This car would look amazing in a non-metallic black. It would look more aggresive IMO. Something like this perhaps:

LOL @ the tape on that black car to make it look like a 5 door (both on the body and on the rear window - fake taped on door handles too), and the fake exhaust pipes on the passenger side.

I don't believe it's a 128i. There is clearly an intercooler visible, making it a 135i. US models that are intended to be sportier models (M3, 330i/Ci ZHP, M5, etc.) have gloss black trim. The lesser models (328i, 325i, 525i, X3 2.5, etc.) had matte black finish. The rest had chrome surround.

^but not a single 135i photo released has had shadowline trim, those are not the standard 135 rims and i dont know how clear that intercooler is that you are seeing..
i like it in black. whatever color that ends up making the front end the most aggressive is going to be the one to get. |

It was shown to a focus group in California, where that pic was taken. See this thread for pics of the back of the car and his description as a 135i.
I also doubt those are the sports package wheels, fwiw, and I doubt that's the finished car, since it's still 9 months away from production for the US market. I still have no idea what color I'm getting. I've had gray/silver cars for my last 4 bimmers, and 5 of 6 were gray/silver. The black does look good though. |

Also, my understanding is that the facia and diffuser (and other aero bits) are not part of the Sport Package that one would get with the 128i. I believe that those particular aero features are special to the 135i. If you get the Sport Package on a 128i, you'll probably get a lowered, sport-tuned suspension, bigger wheels and tires and sport steering wheel. But no special aero pieces. In fact, I'm not sure if there will be a Sport Package you can add to the 135i. I think the idea is that it comes from the factory already "sported up". In short, I believe that any time you see a 1er with the more aggressive facia and diffuser, you're looking at a 135i. |

one thing about the black is you really cant see the lines of the body or the front bumper, which is too bad... |

I compared the size of the 135 to my current Jetta and the 135 is within 1 inch of length (shorter), 1+ inch in height (shorter), and 1/2 inch wider.
Interior dimensions are much the same story even though the Jetta is 4 door. The big difference is in wheel base... 104.72 vs the Jetta's 98.9. Any word on trunk space in the 1er? I guess I have to give up something for RWD and 100 more HP. |

I think these pictures will give a better look at how big the car actually is (parked in between two 5er tourings). I think the 1er coupe is pretty big headed due to the non-coupe lines:
