F20 1 series review
disclaimer
http://http://f20.1addicts.com/forum...d.php?t=558683 I'm don't care for the hatch at all. It looks like a Jetta. Nice upgrades though they've predictably made the car bigger and heavier. |

1 Speed wasn`t that high at the end, maybe around 100-120 km/h 2 Andre is a well known Pro-Driver, I`m just an amateur in that respect 3 Andre did step on it just a little bit early, or I just a little bit late As I did drive both cars I would say that until 200km/h there will be no shocking difference, after that drag is a serious componant and the M3 with obvious more HP will walk away......... |

...and the morons at CNET.com are back at it...
http://reviews.cnet.com/coupe-hatchb...xt#reviewPage1
When it comes to writing, these guys are all about could'a and not should'a. I can't even begin to tell you guys what an idiot this reviewer is. First off, he compares the 1M's ride to the 911 Carrera GTS. Uh...ok...there is a price difference ya know. Then he complains that the fuel-mileage is "un-sportcar-worthy" at 20.1 mpg. He then spends an entire page focusing on the interior amenities and mentions nothing about torque. In fact his entire review is based solely on horsepower. I don't even think he put it on a track. I don't even know why I'm posting this, other than to prove that the one dissenting opinion (from an consumer electronics website, no less) has been written by a person that clearly has a single-digit IQ. It's a wonder he can breathe without a reminder, let alone master the qwerty keyboard. Last edited by Dee Pee; 08-10-2011 at 09:57 PM.. |

Sorry if this is a repost, but Steve Sutcliffe of Autocar posted an interesting blog today:
Is grip mutually exclusive from grin? The cars involved in this grip contest include Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Nissan GTR, Audi RS5, Noble M600, Ariel Atom Mugen, Renaultsport Megane 250, Ford Fiesta, and of course the BMW 1M. Some interesting results:
The 1M didn't win any of the categories, but this is what Steve said about the 1M: What was, was that although the BMW 1M did well but not brilliantly across all the tests, subjectively it was declared the outright favourite by our test team. Fact is, we simply had more fun extracting the various numbers out of the BMW than we did in any other car overall. So although the answer to the original question is ‘no’ – big grip and wide grins are not mutually exclusive – there is at least some kind of distinction to be made. With all its electronic driver aid systems turned off the BMW was/is an absolute riot to drive – and the fact that a Nissan GTR can run right round the outside of it in most corners makes not one iota of difference to that in the end. Yet at the same time, the GTR itself is – for some though not all, it must be said – an utterly intoxicating car to drive, albeit for slightly different reasons than the 1M. |
