By your math, the 335i would only weigh around ~3300lbs assuming BMW used the same 90% fuel, 75kg passenger/cargo in their 'Unladen weight' calculation on the 335i (the wording is the same). |

Thanks One.
I'm so happy to see the usb connection- that should mean full usability of i-pod. We'll see. One thing I noticed is that LeMans Blue has been taken off the UK brochure (available on the German brochure with "M" options). |

U.S. manufacutures do have the car filled with fuel when they say curb weight. What these magazines do is they take what BMW says their unladen weight is and call it a curb weight. To everyone else, the curb weight of a 135i is 3440lbs. To me and a well informed person, its 3274.
Btw, I've seen a lot of people over the past couple days on other forums be turned completely off when they saw the 1560 kg. I'm tired of informing. The Devil is in the details.

The Split screen is also good for nav on one pane, radio or phone info in the second pane... It looks like that functionality get eliminated with this version of iDrive, since it appears to be a physically narrower screen. |

Well if look at the page that lists the standard options on each model (22.jpg), it states that all M - Sport models come with a multifunction M Steering wheel, leather hand brake and Shift Knob (M), Anthracite headlining, Chrome M door sills. Now for the 135i M-sport it says "Equipment in addition/replacement to M-Sport Models"
So that means that we will still get all the M bits on the 135i they just havent showed it any picture. |

How much lighter is the 135 than the 335 ?? 100 and something pounds ?? That's it ?? What's the point ?? I thought the 1-series was supposed to be a lightweight car....
That just killed my 1-series buzz... |

I was just a little confused by the brochure, has both RHD and LHD pics... what specific country is this for? They include cloth as an option, something I really want for the US but alas its been MIA for a while, except as insets on the M3

The brochure is a UK brochure (right hand drive) but is probably using some photos from a continental europe brochure (left hand drive) :iono:

Totally agree. Plus, with 300 horsepower and 300 lb.ft. of torque, those extra pounds are going to be so irrelevant its not even funny. For comparison's sake, the Bugatti Veyron weighs in at 4100 pounds but no one complains about that when they see the performance figures.

If I have to explain that a tossable vehicle is, then you really wouldn't understand anyways... It's not about performance figures... The 2002's and early 911's were hardly powerhouses... But what they lacked in hp they more than made up for in being lightweight... and you could throw those cars around corners. It's not about 1/4 mile times, it's about driving dynamics... I'm not really interested in the 135... I am considering the 128 because I had hoped it would be a cheap, lightweight, rwd vehicle... With lightweight crossed off the list, I'm hoping that pricing will be attractive... At least I know the 1-series will be rwd, but 1 out of 3 ain't gonna cut for me... 2 out of 3 might tho'. Hopefully I won't be as disappointed with pricing as I am with the weight. |

So would I be correct in assuming the droptop version will be even heavier? Add a couple hundred pounds and we're approaching the weight of my GTO (3725lb curb, actually closer to 3800 with the supercharger) which is a heavy hammer and definitely likes to go straight more than turn.
This thing needs to go an a 300-400lb diet or I'm sticking with the Z4. |

Also, your assumption that a "heavy" car cant have good driving dynamics is a bit ridiculous. Consider that the weights of the Porsche 911 Turbo, the Audi R8, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, etc. are all around 3450 pounds (+/- 25 pounds). It would a real stretch to say that those cars dont have good driving dynamics. |
