I am eagerly following this! I enjoy build threads, and have done a few of my own. I never break even, but I love the challenge of doing something different!

Love it, subscribed!
Out of interest have you done the 1M/M3 control arm, LSD, bushes and sway bar upgrades? This will make a big difference to how your car drives.

Nothing mechanical or chassis at this point other than a BMR Autowerks strut brace. I have not put much thought to those mods yet it will basically be a street car.

Not yet. The car is in the queue at the shop so maybe some undercoating on the panels will happen soon but the plan is to get it done start to finish as one project.

You should follow Alex Wong Thread (BAD-135) here in sydney. He had also done a OEM 1M front conversion. left the rear end out.You should ask him about the side skirts. the front quarter will hang over and might look unfinished to some. but personally I don't mind it. |

Very interested in what you’ve got planned for the rear quarters (wings)
Please post up some pics when you’ve got them.

Yes will do. The bodywork shop specialises amongst other things in restorations so very experienced in fabricating new panels, and one of the guys is a trained BMW repairer as well. As I want it factory as possible, especially with all the liners etc, the initial plan is to cut the sheet metal, install all the liners and use that as the template to join the skirt to the rear bumper. I have heard of other rear 1/4's not go so well when it came to finishing off and fitting the liners so want to make sure we get it right. I am not an expert but when I provided photos of other 1/4's being made the comment was "that is old school much simpler process now" which was very encouraging.

Prep work is underway looking at a June kick off. Been researching wheel options and have posted in other areas to get some help on wheel width and et options as I am retaining 135i hubs. Not getting much help so will probably have to wait until bodywork is done and get it measured up. Will be fitting CSL style rims and trying to avoid custom made due to costs. I know I can get Simmons OM wheels but $1000 a corner!! Will be going 19".
