I wouldn't attempt the "night shades" rattle can tint on the main tail lights, but it might be worth the gamble on the 3rd brake light. Being thin and somewhat hidden under the spoiler, even it if didn't turn out perfect it might still look like it was. A light coat sprayed from some distance away followed by some automotive clear might look great.
There would still be a chance to sand it off, polish it a little and try again and in a total worst case scenario if you destroy it and give up they can be bought new for about $50-ish. |

I had my roof wrapped in gloss black vinyl today. At the same time I had them put the lightest Luminex film they had on my 3rd brake light. I think it was 6%, and it nearly perfectly matches the blackline taillights. Gunsmoke (12%) was too dark.

Seriously, I hope they look that good on my Jet Black. Hopefully they arrive in tomorrow's mail and I can pop them on. I sure don't want to be a tool, but I'm loathing any sort of chrome or bright stuff (like the turn signals) on my car. I guess I'm shooting for the murdered look and this is a great first step. |

Not really. They are a little rough around the seams where the two halfs are molded together. I took a file and smoothed mine out. Not really that bad. They match the car well and light up nice so im fine with them. Hopefully they last a while.

I just got mine installed. I had to sand down some extra material, but they still look very good. Much better than OEM.
Word of warning: If your goal is to stay DOT compliant then these look fantastic and have the amber LED lights. If your goal is to actually warn drivers to the side that you're going to change lanes, then these fail pretty hard. They are much dimmer than stock and a lot more difficult to see than OEM blinkers. Edit: it doesn't appear to be a DOT requirement but a euro one. The issue still stands: it's much less noticeable than OEM. Last edited by 135ivert; 05-23-2013 at 04:13 PM.. Reason: not dot, but euro. |
