Attempt #3
Wheels: Breyton GTS-R
Front: 18x8.5 et48 Spacer: 5mm Rear: 18x8.5 et48 Spacer: none Tires: Front: Dunlop Direzza Sport Z-1 Star Spec 245x40-18 Rear Dunlop Direzza Sport Z-1 Star Spec 265x35-18 Suspension/Fender Mods/Camber: We have minor 'rubbage' at all four corners even with stock suspension. Stock but will require moderate fender rolling front and rear with possible camber plates in front for extra negative camber. There is just enough front inside clearance to the strut. Notes: Different brand tires may not be as much of an issue as the Zed 1s are noticably wider than most other brands in the same size. The 245x40 fronts are too tall, I should have gone with 225x40 and 245x40 in this tire with this fitment. Or better yet, since the Star Specs are not available in this size, another brand tire in 245x35-18 all around for proper rotation.

Perfect Fit
Wheels: Breyton GTS-R
Front: 18x8.5 et48 Spacer: 10 mm Rear: 18x8.5 et48 Spacer: none Tires: Front: Kumho Ecsta v700 245x35-18 Rear Kumho Ecsta v700 245x35-18 Suspension/Fender Mods/Camber: Vorshlag camber plates at about -2 and above mentioned spacers. No fender rolling. Notes: Perfect fit. No rubbing. Could probably shoehorn a 255 in front. 255 would fit easily in back. Great track package. I can swap front to rear and flip tires on wheels if necessary to extend tire life. I'm using 15mm spacers up front with stock wheels to fill in the fenders because of -2 camber. Can't find my camera cord to download pics. Here is a pic from a recent track event. http://hart-photography.com/photocart/index.php?do=photocart&viewImage=522717 |

hmmm...i am interested in your choice. you say beyern recommended this setup for you? interestingly, ACS also suggests a square 225 setup. can anyone venture an explanation as to why this might be?? my knee-jerk reaction is that they are possibly just attempting to create a neutral handler and find that it is easiest to do so with a 225 rather than work at something larger...

Wheels: BBS RS-GT forged 2 piece wheels
Front: 18x8 et35 Spacer: none Rear: 18x9 et45 Spacer: none Tires: Front: Bridgestone RE55s R-compound 225/40R18 Rear: Bridgestone RE55s R-compound 225/40R18 Suspension/Fender Mods/Camber: KW Clubsport lowered but can't remember how much/ No fender mods/ Negative 2.8 at the front and negative 2.4 at the rear. Rear camber was adjusted using factory adjustments available for the car. Front camber is achieved through KW's racing mount which is part of KW Clubsport coilovers. Notes: We started the exercise by putting a 265/35R18 on the rear, but these don't even come close to fitting. Then we put on 245/40R18, but they just rub slightly. Bear in mind this is a R-compound tyre and they are very square shouldered like most R-compound. In fact a 225 probably has a foot print of a 245 on a normal tyre. Also I think a 245/35R18 would have fitted, due to it's smaller (and factory spec) overall diameter. Unfortunately not many R compound come in that size! Btw, a non R-spec 245/35-18 will fit quite comfortably I would say (but I haven't tried it) due to much more rounded shoulders. Have a look at the picture below of the tyre I used and see how aggresive the shoulders are. Not sure how the 225 rears will hold up on the track given my mods...find out next Friday. Edit: I can now confirm that my 225 R Compound tyres are as wide (in fact slightly wider) as the factory 245. Hence you should be able to have 245 all round with a normal tyre no problem on this wheels with the same set up as me. |

The rears would rub when going up driveways. At the track event we just ran, there was zero rub. |

None other than aggravating the already present understeer. Try 225x40 in the front.
