I have to say, I'm torn. I like the more OE-like appearance of the Depo lights (matte finish inside, OE-looking white corners, etc.), but the overall design of the lights featured above on the blue car (corona rings stand proud of the inner reflector and the projector lens - similar to OE lights, corona rings appear to be LED-lit and don't have any hot spots like the Depo lights seem to have in pics, and the corona rings don't appear to be bluish when the lights are off like the Depos) seems to be more to my liking. I don't like the black version, however. Which leads me to seek other sources for the chrome version. Anyone know where to find them other than the Schmiedmann website mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

Dack, Can you ask him if the Depo angel eye bulb (white car and this one: http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/97/p8210370.jpg) can be replaced with an aftermarket bulb kit? Fitments, etc. I wish I knew about these before wasting time and money with JLeviSW. |

Hey SchauCow - PM's sent. I am waiting the 1er guys & gals replies.
You can change the Angel Eye bulbs. Here are some different LED designs... Be sure to look at the first post and also post #53. I will also cut and paste those two photos of the LEDs vs normal OEM depo bulbs. http://www.1erforum.de/tuning/ad-tun...ung-33153.html LED's on left side, OEM bulb on right side... All LED's... PS: I think with all these aftermarket lights you can still see some dead spots on the AE rings. Even in these two pics above I can see it. |

And that's exactly what's keeping me from pulling the trigger on these lights as opposed to the other ones referenced elsewhere in this thread that appear to come with LED corona rings and are evenly lit.

Whow, one second, the pictures are taken from the 1erForum, the Headlights are from Sonar.
https://www.dectane.de//product_info...---chrome.html Another option is, repacing the Depo rings with CCFL rings, a few guys from the 1er have done this. http://www.1erforum.de/tuning/einbau...fer-27660.html |

Dack, I was talking about the ones I posted in my link. They are different headlight assemblies. The ones you posted above are the standard Depos with the 4 x T5 wedge bulbs that go in each ring. The one I am referring to is the aftermarket headlight, but the AE ring is smoother looking and almost OEM in appearance (look at the bottom of the AE and see that metal sleeve vs. the other headlights). Because these headlights resemble closely to the OEM Xenons, I'm wondering if the AE bulb can be replaced with an aftermarket AE bulb kit. |

Those lights must use some sort of a bulb. And a bulb is a bulb. So I am sure you can find a replacement for it in different color temps. And... of course you could always maybe have the AE ring coded for more juice and a brighter light output. |

Hmm interested in those sonar ones now.. Looks like you can see the angels in the daylight with the white LED bulbs installed in the angels?
I would also like to know what bulbs the Angel eyes take in the Sonar headlights.. If it's a normal H8 like stock angels, then we could install LUX LED for example, or is it multiple w5W LEDS like the Depo headlights.. However, it looks more like stock with one bulb. Knob maybe you would be able to help us Thanks |

Hi Guys,
Daniel (anotehr 1er forum guy) sent me two nice pictures of his one. He will take some cose up pics soon - so I can post them. I don't think these Sonar lights use H8's. I think they use a bayonet type bulb. See my link in post #28. Sorry about the huge file/size. |

This is the place that sells the Sonar lights shown above on the Red 1er (Katja's car) & the white car. 239 euros for the set.
https://www.dectane.de/product_info....---chrome.html This link might be better to show you all the headlights offered... https://www.dectane.de/index.php?cat=c659_1-er.html Dackel Last edited by Dackelone; 11-15-2010 at 05:16 PM.. |

I dont like the new design of the headlight shown above links for Euro 239. I would like to purchase a set that marked Euro 289, but not sure if they fit my e82. |

Thx Dackel
The pics in post 28 are depos though aren't they? I was referring to Sonar ones. You say the lights in white and red 1er are the same? But the angels look different? Whiter 1er has a metal ring at the bottom and light looks better distributed. Red 1er doesn't have the metal ring at the bottom of each angel and looks a little more blotchy. So are these different types of headlights because it seems so from pics? I think Depo =W5W for angels And Sonar = different type of bulb Cheers! |
