I voted for the 17x9.5" ET58/60.
That combined with the 17x8.5" ET40 would be a great set up. Can anyone already has 17" Arc8s print out this template and see if Stoptech ST60s will fit? http://www.stoptech.com/docs/wheel-f...165-2670-00_FP |

I left 1/4" margins just in case: Even with the precautionary margins, it clears both the barrel and the spokes on my 17x8.5 ET40 ARC8:

With a fender roll, you could run a 275 drag radial on the 9" wheel, and the 9.5" would be plug and play due to the higher offset.

The 9.5 should be plug and play for just about any tire from a 245/40 to a 275/40, depending on what you're trying to do with the car.

We've increased our team size, and we're using some newly developed tools to better manage and develop new projects like this. We've received a lot of feedback via the skunkworks site and we'll share information once we've analyzed to further. To note: we have not selected offsets yet. I know this thread's title and poll already lists specific offsets, but those are not what we are pursuing, which may be creating some confusion. If a 17x9" wheel is produced the offset will be higher than ET45 from what we've seen so far. ET45 does not seem ideal. This car needs a true custom solution. An offset in the low 50's will be more ideal for r-compound fitment of meaty tires We will conduct tests at multiple offsets to determine an ideal fit, and we will bring that recommendation back to the group for discussion and further voting.

For the record, and I realize I'm probably in the minority here, I would love a 1 series fitment 17x8 ARC-8. There is already a 17x8 et20 and 17x8 et25 (4 lug) and I think a 17x8 et40 or 45 would be great for 1 series owners looking to fit a nice 225 square tire setup.

As a comparison of tires sizes for different chassis, we see the following: E30 M3's are running 235. Most everyone runs 245 or 255 square on the E36 and on the E46 non-m. 265 or 275 square on the E46 M3, 255 square on the E9X non-m, and 275 square on the E9X. 17x8.5" et40 with 225/40/17 will fit now on a stock car. the tire's narrow and clears the fender front and rear.

My basis for the 17x8 ET40-45 was because of the 18" square sizing for the 1 series which is 18x8.5 ET45. Either way, I'm a huge fan of Apex and will continue to be. I appreciate your support of the community and that's why I have 2 sets of your wheels for my race car. Last edited by hoki06; 06-02-2015 at 07:26 AM.. |
