I just had to pay for new injectors on my 2009 135i last year! What model years and engine does this cover?

Those of you that had injector fails, can you post your stories. Did the engine stumble, then fail start. Did it throw engine light always? Or did idle go bad, slight stumble without engine light?
I think posting the symptoms would really help people. Thanks |

I have replaced all of my injectors at least once, with one or two having been replaced twice. My problem was a rough idle. The SA tried to diagnose the issue by looking at the plugs to identify the faulty cylinder, but after two return trips for the same issue, we agreed to swap them all. I'm at 118,000 miles with probably 40,000 miles or so on the fresh swap of injectors.
I didn't have my cobb at the time to scan and log nor did I notice any performance issues. I never had an engine light come on. I never had a starting problem either. Hope this helps!

I received my letter as well, however my 1M only has 7500 miles on the clock. These cars are now 7 years old..

Yes, instantly. I had been for so long with a rough idle, I had forgotten how smooth it should be

I received my letter as well. Glad BMW is stepping up to the plate on this. Those injectors are not cheap and prone to going bad. Also, IIRC you can't just replace the one, you have to replace all of them if there is a misfire... At least thats what the dealer told me.
I had my injectors replaced around 25k when I was still under warranty. On cold starts the car was rough and would stumble - the car did not fire to life like normal. Some starts were worse than others. Once the car settled down to idle it was still choppy if you paid close attention. Much more pronounced on cold starts. No significant loss in power or significant drivability issues in my experience. I did not get a check engine light. The dealer replaced all of the injectors and the idle/cold start was much more smooth. It was nice to get that cold start bark back! |

I have not gotten a letter yet, so I e-mailed BMW NA asking about the extended warranty for fuel injectors. Their response was "Regarding the fuel injectors, BMW has extended the warranty of the High Pressure Injection Pump (HDP) from 4 years or 50,000 miles to 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first." I used the link provided earlier in this thread and entered the last 7 of my VIN and got no response as to warranty coverage.
At 3 years and 20,000+ miles I had warranty replacement of injectors, coils, and plugs for cylinders #1-3 at my dealer after SES combustion misfires. I had the 45,000 mile service performed last July (new plugs, etc.) at a local independent shop and now at 47,000+ miles I again have SES combustion misfires and am being told that by the dealer that I need to replace all injectors (for a newer model) and plugs. They gave me some discounts on parts and labor but it's still going to be ~$3,000 to repair. I sure could use a copy of that letter extending the fuel injector warranty.

I was under the impression that HPFP and turbo wastegate issues weren't explicitly covered for the 1M (even though logic would dictate otherwise)? |

Well... yes, you are correct. I forgot we are in the 1M forum when I posted that info. But the 1M and the 135i both are N54 engines... so you would "think" BMW would also extend the coverage to 1M's are well. ?

So it appears the OP has an N55 (MY 2011).
The rest of you who have gotten the letter, can you chime in with MY and engine? I have a US 2012 N55 and have not gotten the letter.

OP has a 1M, this is the 1M sub-forum after all, so he has an N54. Looks like N54 owners are being offered the extended injector coverage.

Thanks, it was worth a try. I did manage to get a almost 17% knocked of the original estimate for parts and labor, and a no charge for the diagnostics since I had them do the work. Plus there is a two year parts and labor warranty on the work. My preferred indy shop was not able to match the price quoted for the repair.

It's hard to tell which subforum a thread is in on the app. I've had a couple of times I've posted in the Australia forum on accident. Lol
