Good, because we have already decided that you are not worthy.

Get an E30 while you wait, you'll probably end up keeping it after you get the M2.

Beater, I was very close to signing the papers for a GTS then got a new job so didn't follow through. However now that the new model is coming soon with a Turbo charged engine I would hold off as the value of the NA will either remain the same/go higher for the purist or drop significantly due to more power/tuneability of the turbo model. Get a beater and hold off to see what happens in the market and how the M2 turns out to be.

Reporting back that I failed to get:

- the red Boxster S. It has big previous claim. I tried to talk down on the price to compensate for it but they can't get anywhere near my offer price

- a 2009 RDX with Tech. On inspection, tons of snow/salt rust and visible previous damage from rodent infestation. Tried to talk down price to compensate but again fail to meet on price.

- a 2014 Cayman S 6MT out of province from Halifax, with PASM, PDLS, Sports Chrono, PTV, Convenience Package, Auto dimming with rain sensor, Sports Plus seats. Basically my dream config. And to boot, an insane price tag of $62.5k CAD. I called and he called back. He says tons of calls but everyone is hoping for some proof that this is real before paying deposit. I scheduled an appointment for him to go next morning to Porsche Halifax to do Pre-Purchase Inspection and if passes, I'll send him deposit, fly over and settle the deal. I think the Calgary Porsche dealership ended up getting it super quickly after that. Paid deposit without any proof or inspection....

- A 2007 RDX with Tech. Called seller 3 times over 2 weeks and still couldn't arrange a time to see the vehicle...

- A 2015 BMW X3 28d, as loaded as xLine can get. After test drive, sales guy never called back on my messages for 3 days. And i called his office land line through a receptionist redirection the 3rd day and he said it was sold that 3rd day morning..... Very pissed.

I ended up taking over the lease on the 2013 328i Sportsline.... I don't know if it's a mistake, because I swear is the worst steering feel BMW ever. I'd say worse than the diesel X3. Handling is also more like a boat than a car.... 19 months of 328i 'jail'.... So gonna get a Cayman S next to compensate for all my misery this coming 19 months.

And did I mention, shopping for used vehicles SUCKS..... *rantz over*

I drove Porsches for 10 years, culminating with a 1997 Boxster, which was nice, but got tired of it being so cramped and limited seat adjustment. Switched to BMW and got more room and practicality out of a 2001 330i Sport, and have never looked back. Enjoyed the Porsches, but the ownership experience was never as good as the BMW experience has been.

Just saw the write-up on the M2 in BMW CCA's Roundel magazine, and it looks like a next-gen E46 M3 with a little more power and better suspension. Probably will take it for a drive when the local dealer gets one this Spring, but this generation of M-cars leans way too much towards the track than the street. M3/M4 is pretty loud and stiff, and not as practical as a "normal" F30/F32, but that's to be expected. Since the M3/M4 have grown to about the same size as the previous M5/M6, the M2 should be more like the older M3s (E36/E46), but with more gadgetry.

How about a Z4M, one of the last pure raw sports cars by BMW. They can be had for quite cheap, and still leave you enough cash for a SAV. I have a F25 X3 with n55 and an E68 with n52 for track duty and I can't imagine replacing either one.

I'll see how life looks like 19 months later and decide then. For now it's a F30 328i xDrive.... Sigh

Boxster S will quickly make you forget about the 135i. I also own a 2006 Cayenne Turbo S and in bone-stock form blows away many Sportscars.
