The v2 mfactory clutch type lsd is what I'm planning on going with simply due to how much cheaper it is to any other option and just taking a risk on the noise. Will try to document as much as I can but that won't be until jan/feb

Can anyone share some feedback about how much maintenance these clutch based LSDs need?
I'm between the Mfactory 1.5W clutch (6 springs for about 60% preload) and diffsonline 35/60 3 clutch. Really want a clutch based LSD for predictablity but don't want to have to rebuild it every year. Frequent oil changes I'm good with. I've emailed a few venders but still don't have a good idea how often plates and springs need to be replaced. I completely understand this all depends on usage but just looking for a general idea of what to expect. Also is there a big difference in maintenance intervals between street friendly clutch LSD setups? 6-8 HPDE per summer and light street use. 5-7k miles per year, no drifting. I'm very easy on the car to be honest. |

I was told, change oil 500mi after installation. Then change oil every 2 years or 5 track days, whichever comes first. He gave me a list of oils to use, I'm running Motul Gear Competition 75w-140.
Clutches should last 30k mi before needing to be replaced with normal driving and track day usage. If doing endurance racing then things would need to be replaced more frequently.

Clutch wear will depend on use (no kidding) and the number of clutches. A 4-clutch diff will require more frequent rebuilds than a 6 or 8 clutch diff. Depending on usage, 30-50k miles of mixed street and track use is fairly typical depending on which diff and the # of clutches.
I suspect you'll get 4-5 years before needing a rebuild carguy138 |

What brand and what ratio LSD?
Lots of talk about Clutch vs Helical and Wavetrac, but if I were to go with a Helical, which is better, Wavetrac or Quaife? What are the pros and cons of each?
Also what about gear ratios? I have a 2013 E82 135is with DCT and a bunch of mods and MHD. I believe the stock Ratio is 2:56, and the other option is 2:81, which should be quicker. Anyone running the 2:81 vs the Stock ratio? Thanks! |
