If I buy the car this coming spring, I'm going to try avoid any big modding, except for a quiafe LSD.
Only three companies have thus far come public with their N54 software, I'm sure more a lot more will come later, like the big E46 M3 tuner companies. Getting so excited for this motor and car! |

I agree. It's going to be a great car to own and mod for power. I haven't heard anything on the intercooler. How much are they going for?

Typical corvette owners are usually over 250 lbs therefore the 135i might have a chance. ;-) |

Haha, that is so true, I know a guy that is horizontally challenged and he's got 3 vettes. A C5, ZO6, and a classic vette.

Why is the 135i so heavy...
Question; Which BMW are people willing to spend more, for less...? Come on! The clock is ticking! The M3 CSL... The lightweight version of the M3. The M director was quoted in an interview that enough people have been "trained" (for lack of a better word) to pay more, "not for less weight", as he put it but, "to pay more -for more power".... Huhh? Basically. Once the M1 or WHATEVER they end up calling it, goes on sale. There should be a lightweight version of it shortly thereafter...

The reason why the 135i is so heavy, because it has to do with safety regulations. Just look at it this way..
2500lbs-- Cheaper, Lighter, and less safe. 3000/lbs-- A decent amount of weight, relatively expensive, and provides decent safety.. 4000lbs Expensive, Heavier, and a lot more safety... But their is another alternative.. Don't order so much accessories that you don't need. Ask your self some ?'s before you buy the car? Do I really need navigation?? What are you using the car for?? A Daily Driver, Race Car etc.. Airbags, TCS, ABS, Audio, Car insulation, speakers, Leather seats, Heated seats, Power Seats, and the list goes on and on....Blablabla.......... |

You probably already know this but not only will you add 14whp with IC but you will also reduce heatsoak which the n54 is prone to if you haven't heard. In otherwords, you will maintain max power longer during spirited driving lasted over ten minutes. You can easily lose 10% of your power from heatsoak. I've done multiple back to back dyno runs on my 335i to prove it. Another important mod for serious drivers will be an aftermarket/larger/more efficient oil cooler. 335i's with aftermarket oil cooler have already won 12hour races against STI's and evo's etc. It was a stock race, so boost was limited to the max boost a stock car puts out. I can't remember all the rules, it was the bathurst race. Look it up. |
