^ I agree, if you want crazy supra power, well, then go buy a supra...
If the slightly modified TT I6 can keep up with or come close to keeping up with the new M3, I'd be more than happy...

i don't need 1000HP or anything there are not alot of people who do, but once i start going modding i would like to have the ability to keep modding if i wanted to, everyone is buying the 1'er for different reasons ultimately it will come down to personal preference of what they want out of the car.
there will be alot of people who don't want to do anything with it and keep it stock and be happy with it, other people might actually like a 4 second engine and know that it will keep with a new M3 and be happy, me on the other hand i want my beemer to be completly capable of DD but if something a little more exotic rolls up on the track (like a black porsche 911 turbo) that i would be able to hang with him in atleast the straight. i'm looking at 550whp MAX, and when i say MAX i mean the most the motor will ever, ever see on the track with race gas and the porsche next to me is 550whp, DD i couldn't see me needing anymore than 400hp which the procede would be perfect for, |

I guess your underestimating this motor. There are already 335i's(n54) with a piggybacks, cats-backs, 100+ octane pushing down into the 3.8s+ supercar echelon. You don't need 500hp to beat a Porsche turbo...! |

I myself am very impressed with the times the 335 has been puttin down. To me atleast it seems very quick for the power is puttin out. I know the procede has around 400 lbft in the low 2000rpm range, and I know the low end torque is a freind to the 335. With that said when do you guys think the torque advantage will start to drop off? Will it be with a turbo upgrade or will it still be able to keep its advantage with a properly sized turbo? |

I personally would prefer a single turbo that gives up some of that quick spool but can maintain torque to redline and certainly one that does not cause a massive torque spike in the low rpm range. |

If anybody cares, I've driven a few PROCeded 335i cars on an autocross course. I think for autocross, a ****** might be better. Both cars I drove had a decent amount of turbo lag, and putting power down when you need it is one of the major things you need in autocross. It felt like there was almost a full second lag after pressing on the go pedal. The 335s that I've driven at autocross, that were stock mapped, seemed to be able to more quickly put the power down.
I figured that was an anomaly, but both cars did the same thing. The added turbo-lag isn't as big of an issue on the track, but it would still be there... |

so why wasn't this stated earlier in the post, my original question was how far have these motors been pushed? all i got back as an answer was the 400hp range which was the procede and a cat-back. i may not need 500hp for a stock 911 turbo but the one i see at the track aint stock, not sure in what it has but it RUNS it's ass off. i think 250-300whp over the stock 300Chp is quite reasonable nowaday's. i'm not underestimating this motor i was hoping that more power was acheivable but when i asked how far they have been pushed the numbers were low.... :iono: |

i know in the corners i'm not gonna get close because the chassis dynamics of the 1 series just is no were near that of a porsche 911, but in the straights i would like to hang which is what i had stated. european cars are alway's expensive to modify compared to the japanese market, i know it's expensive to mod a beemer especially, but at the end of the day i get paid well and bust my ass for the money i get so saving and spending a large amount of money into something that i want doesn't really bother me. As far as the stock turbo's go i would like to keep the exhaust side stock but with a new wheel and compressor housing, i am praying to god that there are turbo's out there that match up with the N54's, from what i have read the injectors are close to maxing out at 400hp on the procede. from what i have read (i may be wrong so correct me if i am) they are at 80-85% duty cycle on the injectors at 400hp, direct injection isn't soemthing i have had to mess with at toyota but i'm not scared to research for upgrades or find out what i would need to do to make them flow better/more. |

Not 400hp, but 400rwhp...! 335's doing 0~60mph in 3.8s'ish is quite remarkable. Now, there is some work to be done to get those times, but for those who will put light weight Neez, fatter tyres, exhaust, etc... Should be able to reach those figures with very little money, perhaps $5~$6k ...! Rolling with a Porsche Turbo on the highway would be fun, to be able to hang or play with such a supercar is testiment to the N54's engineering.... with STOCK INTERNALS! ![]() Your not going to outhandle the Porsche and a "pumped" up n54 might not make he tracks any faster.. but thats alot of power for under $60k. -Garrett |

Not true BMW bases most of its racing efforts on the 3er and the 1er is very similar. suspension tune is not there but I guarantee the chassis dynamics are. 911s stock are a much better handling car but with some basic modifications i see no issues hanging with hanging with a 911 on the track. E46 M3s beat up on 911s in Koni challenge racing series all the time. also koni challenge is very limited in modifications compared to series such as world challenge.

No idea how much hp other stock parts can support like the clutch or fmic. Those might have to go too. |

your right on the handling part which is what i had already stated in previous posts on this thread, i just want to hang with one on the highway/track if needed, that is my goal, it's a high one i agree but it's something that i want to achieve on a reliable platform, which IMO the 1 series is the best platform for this goal to achieved,

i was unaware of this, that's great to hear, i thought that the 911 would simply walk away from the BMW in the corners. i stand corrected.:w00t: |
