Yes, unfortunately you will have to be deployed/overseas to get the discount. I wasn't patient enough to wait, maybe I will do it on my next bimmer. I was also worried the price would go up or a number of other possible issues that kept me from waiting until my next deployment. Oh well, I will enjoy it when it arrives.

This post is for anyone with a 'production number' of 1001XXX or similar. Is this the real production number? I can't get any information from the Owner's Circle website using this number so it seems it's not actually a production number. It doesn't match what the guys in the States are getting as production numbers either, but maybe that's because it's through military sales. Still waiting for confirmation on a build date. I'm pretty sure a VIN will come out at that point.
Anybody have any useful information on this? I'll even take rumor or innuendo at this point.

MY SA said we will not be able to track our vehicles on the BMWUSA site since they are being ordered from another country (Dubai in my case) but he has been great at keeping me updated on the status.

Yeup that number is about correct. I was worried about the same thing. My production number is 958xxxx and I ordered mine in December time frame. I also cannot track it. I wonder if we will be able to track it once we get the vin. I should have mine in a bout a week. Ill keep you all posted

It might not say deployed but to be eligible for the program you have to be in an overseas status or location, so Europe, Japan...Middle East. Its a Requirement. Once you fill up the paperwork they will ask you for the current deployed unit address and all that stuff. Your not eligible just by having a US MIL ID card.

As far as I know the order numbers start with 1001XXX. I don't know what our production numbers look like ordering through this program as compared to the guys ordering through US based BMW dealers. My car is supposed to be built later this month so I guess I'll know then. The not knowing sucks.

I put the 1000 down payment on 9/27/07. So a VERY long time ago. Even then they were saying delivery of april 20th. Now it looks like it will be the second week of may. the build should start in a week from what I am told. You usually get the vin a week before the production.

I've heard the VIN is released about a week before production as well. I've also heard that
1) There is a 2 or 3 day lag between the release of information (VIN, production status, whatever) and the website, and 2) Our VIN's won't show up on the Owner's Circle website due to the cars not being sold in the US. You might try the 1-800 number mentioned on the site. 'They' say it gets updated more quickly, but again, we may not show up there either. No firsthand knowledge on any of this unfortunately. Just rumor and hearsay.

I think they only get a certain amount of allocation. They knew right off the bat that although I was ordering mine ASAP that it would get delivered behind others. We are after all saving about 4k depending on your circumstances. Thats a shit ton of money so I wont complain.

I've read they don't have an allocation but they have to be 'worked into' the production schedule. I ordered in early March and have a production date of 17 April supposedly. Production date might depend on how many cars the CA moves. I don't know. But the wait is killing me!

Military Sales
I will say it here. if you want to buy through military sales go through Angela at superior motors. Her email is angela@superiormotorsmsp.com I had contacted several other SA's at different companies but Angela was the only one on the ball. She's goes above and beyond.

Another update. I called the 800 number and they cant even track the thing. What a pain in the ass. You would think that 800 number, being BMW themselves could track it. Apperently they cannot
