Linus, I think I can agree with almost everything you said.
Looks are subjective If the 1 did not exist I would have bought a 335i. Lease rates are not relevant for me. I don't blame BMW for charging what the market would bear that is capitalism. It is definitely frustrating to those affected though. I can see how for many many people it would make more sense to lease a 335i. Both are great cars doing slightly different things. And the Hummer, Buick thing was going too far... I guess I was a little too grumpy when I wrote my rant last night. This wait for the car has me going a little crazy! |

here's my 2 cents...The 335 is a beautiful car. I think the design flows so nicely and it looks very low and wide. It looks classier then the 2 to me. The 1 looks a little less "sexy" but has a muscular sporty look to it. The 1 is a good looking car...the 335 is a great looking car IMO. Also...I thought that LA times artical was crap. His opinion seemed fairly contrary to most of the articles I had read. For such a major paper it wasn't much of an article! But hey...that just my 2cents!

What if you're leasing? Then the E92, really starts to look pretty good. I was dead set on the 135. I even cancelled a Mini Cooper S when I heard about this car, but it's only about 100 lbs lighter and may make a little less power due to the exhaust based on the 1/4 mile times/trap speeds.
Now you're almost making the same payments on a car they may not be much faster and is smaller (which I like)? |

Before I start, I must say I haven't seen or driven the 1 yet. Also, I don't own a 3 (or have ever owned a 3) - but I have had a bit of seat time in the 3's, G's, A's and STi.
From what I've been reading on this forum and other online resources, I'm starting to get the feeling that the 1 isn't the back to the old days tii that it was suppose to be. Like I've mention previously on this forum, yes the 3 has grown, but it has had to. But how much more fun to drive is the 1 over the 3? I mean, if the 1 really isn't that small and light, how much more fun is it to drive than the 3 ? is the 1's imagine built on advertising or is there really and big difference in fun to drive factor over the 3? I understand BMW's reason to bring in a new entry level car, but is it just a repackaged 3 (a ghost in the shell - if you know what I mean)? Just throwing the though out there... |
