As an automotive designer (should it matter at all), this year's "in" color for automobiles is Pearl White. Last years color was silver, which in my opinion is way overdone but all manufacturers.

Once you go black, you never go back. Mine is BSM with Terra interior and I must say it looks great. Keep a California car brush in your trunk and it'll never be dusty. I'm wiping pollen off every day between washes and it looks fantastic!

Does it bother people to see a white hood as you drive? I drive a black car, but I think the 135i looks stunning in white. Is a white hood visible at night?

I went with the AW/CR for the following reasons:
#1 Hadn't had a White on Red since high school #2 I think the AW actually accents the sexy lines of the 135i better than any other color #3 I like graphics on my cars and the AW seems to be the very best color to make the graphics pop #4 It was time Call

My conclusion.
To make the car look mean - BSM To make the car look clean - AW I'm have more partial to an aggresvie look and BSM does that for me Also....I think the AW has a bit more "cutsie" look to it. |

+1 exactly...and IMHO this car NEEDS to look mean...if for no other reason than to combat the general population's fascination with calling it "cute" blah. Both colors are extremely popular..so if you are wanting something a little more rare, try Blue Water...that will stay cleaner than both of em!

Black cars look nicer when there are clean and black cars look like they cost more!
But after today pollin followed by a brief rain shower, and after an hour cleaning it... black sorta sucks, but still wouldnt do any other color but maybe those gray silver colors. Guess Ill be like the karate kid...wax on, wax off. Still think the while looks like a toaster too. bski 128i vert black saphire metallic terra boston leather |

I would say Jet black but since that is not a choice, BSM FTMFW!!! Seriously it really is a gorgeous color for our cars. Can't wait for the next meet Achtung. Mine is JB but will give you a good idea what it will look like. AW is too peaceful IMO. You are getting an aggressive, fast, and sharp car. Black accentuates all of those traits perfectly.
I just hope you have atleast one day a week off and a couple spare daylight hours for cleaning. |

Yeah, and recently alot of members are posting up BSM pics, some are dslr quality too, and i'm noticing new Black BMWs all over the place while driving around.
Black has always been my favorite BMW color, Alpine White is a recent and now close 2nd. I'm getting better with the camera and am happy to shoot these cars at gtgs as practice for my ED experience. Black is a challenge to shoot for sure.

Generally I wasn't pleased with our color choices and ended up with sedona red and coral. Others here at 1 addicts have critisized this choice and I wasn't sure. But once I saw this in person I have to say that this is a very good look. If you are unwilling to deviate from white or black I'd pick black and coral. White looks to boxy and to me losses some of the more subtle lines. Black dirt on a white car is just as bad as white dirt on a black car.
While at the nurburg ring after ED I met a group of British journalist who were covering some type of super-bike contest. Latter that day I heard them rating my car from my balcony of the Zur Burg Hotel. There comments-"this car is gorgeous". I got looks everywhere I went. This was surprising in the land of supercars. Several people were compled to take photos. Imagine this. I pull up to the information center at the Nurburg ring between and a brand new M3 coupe and an M5 cabriolet. People were most interested in that red 135 of mine. Europe evidently is not familiar with the 1er as a coupe. Finnaly, and getting back to topic, once I dropped the car off for shipping in Amsterdam I parked with all the other BMWs going out. All were black but mine. I liked the difference. Good luck in choosing. |

I went with AW because its cheaper, looks clean and mean, and im sick of black. I will say BSM is easier to maintain than jet black 4 sure. The thing is, AW is very forgiving to scratches and swirls and sometimes even looks OK dirty... for a while (so will BSM). Actually ... a picture of an AW M3 is what made me want "the whites."
U know "my dirty undies Dude, the laundry, the whites!" Walter, The Big Lebowski- Long-shot movie reference. I will see if i can find that pick of the M3, it looks competitive... like it belongs on a track. It might even be on a track in the pic... Good luck with your decision man.:respekt:
