I have a module that I installed in my MINI that makes the windows go up automatically if you press unlock then lock. It mimics you putting the key in the door and holding it. Perhaps there is something like this for our cars too?

Okay, it seems that this is a difference between the coupe and the vert...

From the Ask A Dealer thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=88

In other words, without CA, my vert does nothing.

More like 2-3 seconds (give or take), but yeah, it doesn't happen immediately.

Amy, if it's any consolation, I've only used the remote a few times to operate the top. I prefer to have the battery charging while having the top do it's thing so I generally get in the car, start the motor and then operate the top from the console switch. This also means I don't have to dig the remote out of my pocket - which anyone with CA will tell you is entirely too much work.
Enjoy your 'vert!

there has to be some sort of MOD for this. I can't believe that the module for the none US cars are different from the foriegn cars that have the up capability. Just have to find out how to turn this option on. might be a circuit board tweak of some sort.

Most likely a software change in the BCM.

I would spend $50 to do this with my coupe.

Mods4cars sells a module for the e90 that enables the auto up on the remote.

Link:

http://www.mods4cars.com/

They also sell one that enables the top functions. So they might have something that will work for the 1 series. Isn't cheap though.

Okay, I checked this out and e-mailed them. The module for the 3-series enables remote auto down and up on verts that don't have CA, and it's just shy of $400. I asked if they had any plans for the 1-series, told them I would buy one in a heartbeat, and I offered my services as a tester. Sounds like it's something they want to do, but they need testers in Southern California, near where they are located. So, who wants to volunteer?! Please?

Thanks!!

That is exactly what happens... wasn't sure if there was a fault, so I am happy now!

It is quite cool, as when you close the door the windows close too.

Nice to hear they are interested in developing something. They didn't respond to my email. I will just have to keep an eye on the site.

For a moment, I regretted only getting CA on the 135 coupe and not on my 128 vert... This HAS to come out! $400 is no problem for all those options

Time will tell I guess, I just want to roll my windows up from the remote. I have CA and don't mind holding my finger on the handle but I don't want to be limited .

This is not really that new a feature on Bimmers guys (and gals). I know on my '99 E39 it had that feature as well.
