I can agree with that... it is nice to know that the SSTT at least does not reduce your MPG when you drive in a conservative manner. I am quite happy with it.

No, I don't have it. Don't have lag either. Well unless I'm at 1000 rpm and floor it in a high gear. It will take a second to get to full torque, but the car without SSTT would do the same thing.
SSTT is not a boost controller the ECU is still in charge of your car. The sensation of lag and or true lag can come from many different things in this car. |

Doesn't this mod add stress to the engine and turbo parts?
Is this safe in the long term? |

ALL SSTT does is trick the car into thinking that it is at high altitudes. The ECU still controls all functions the way BMW intended and continues to regulate everything within safe levels. Increasing boost is what shortens the life of the turbos, and SSTT does not touch boost levels. Any stress caused by SSTT would be no more than what would be experienced by a fully stock car in the mountains.

Technically the EUC cause the increase. SSTT intercepts the TMAP signal and sends a signal back that gives the impression of the car running at a higher altitude and cooler temps. These changes vary based on actual temps and altitude. The net result is the ECU runs at higher boosts (varies from condition to condition). The actual result is a mimic of the stock hp/tq curves just at high amounts given an individuals car and conditions. This is accomplished with the ECU staying within it's factory pre-set max/min boost for given TMAP conditions, thus it's never outside the factory specs and won't throw codes or be detected by present BMW service eq.
Minus is that it will not give you max boost or engine controls like the other tunes out there. There is also limited effects in very high temps because the ECU will pull timing from a detonation stand point. Reality, if you want a simple to install and remove stealth tune that gives very good increases in power the SSTT is probably the best choice. If you want max power and are going to change down pipes and exhaust, I would choose one of the tunes that gives more control of all aspects of the cars ECU. But you have an increased risk of being caught by BMW and more hassles in removing the modifications. btw....how do you like your SSTT gains? |

I'm going to dyno the car soon to see. I will also dyno stock air box vs. dual cone filters. I just need to decide dynojet or dynopack.
Before installing the SSTT, I didn't WOT that much because of break in period. Most of my WOT are only up to 5-6K RPM. I installed the SSTT at around 700 miles. I still haven't redline the car yet. I'm over 1000 miles now and I plan to do some WOT this weekend to help it adapt more. I apologize for saying the car lags before 3K RPM. I think as the RPM increase the car pulls alot harder, especially after 3K RPM, so it's just an illusion of lag. |

You need to WOT. The ECU stock/mod runs differently based on throttle position. WOT from a 10 roll in 1st @ 6800 rpm shift into 2nd and WOT again. Then report the :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: |
