Attachment 10233Im think Ive done it. Pics i mean.
Maybe BMW thought it wasnt nessasary. The car is pretty quiet in side Also its not like its super cold (bloody cold sometimes though) and the engine is going to freeze up. less weight too. not as much heat build up during the summer months either. Some thoughts. |

US cars have the same some do-some don't with no discernible pattern. Build date, transmission, options... do not seem to be a factor.
Johann probably is a chain smoker and takes a lot of work breaks with the hood-lining QA person. |

I think in Australia the biggest threat to the engine is heat, I think of it this way, if you have a hot pie and want to keep it from going cold you wrap it in insulation.? right. If you want the heat to escape from the engine bay you let the large surface of the bonnet radiate the heat away (better when the car is moving). I don't have insulation and don't feel sorry that I missed out.

<< Would rather have that go cold. It kind of looks like something out of Sweeney Todd.
Just got back from a meal of fresh lobster pie (restaurant is on the Atlantic waterfront).. coupla Stoli martinis, great desert, started out with littlenecks on the half shell. If I had insulation under my hood, and I wanted to better preserve any fictitious leftovers (trust me, none exist), I would rip the stuffing out from under my hood to preserve to goodness of those leftovers. |

My ol codger is a 02/08 build and it has the insulation. Maybe the Germans are smuggling drugs in via the insulation and remove it at the dock

My '05 120i has no under bonnet insulation.
The BSM 135i at the Doncaster launch didn't have insulation either.
