Looks like a 135 with the M sport package and faux carbon mirrors to me. Sans the ugly stripes.

Test driving Fi Sauber 135i Coupe

Hi all

Just joined this thread...

UK guy working in Switzerland, i have an E46 M3 Convertible ( FOR SALE ) Estoril Blue, after 1 year cars are illegal here unless you have them changed to Swiss standard ( Not cheap )

Anyway on my travels in M3 around Swiss Alps etc etc - i came across the F1 Sauber 135i, i have to say it looked stunning...

forward 3 months later, im have to sell my M3 and take it back to UK, im going to lease a car here in Switzerland, at delaers they have a F1 Sauber and its awesome...

ONLY 135 in country

check out this site and watch vieo of coupe and saloon

http://www.bmw.ch/ch/de/owners/acces...e_3/start.html

Im having a test drive and Tuesday..

The F1 Sauber package cost around 12K..

The steering wheel cost £1000 - check it out on video

Correct about wheels, you can only get this colour wheels on this car ( apparently )

I agree about stripes, like them on side but not 100% on bonnet..

Car is actually cheaper than the 135i M sport convertible..

I will report back after test drive

Cheers

Rob

Pretty sad that it does not have one single drivetrain performance mod. They could at least throw in an air intake, a power kit with ducts and the silencer exhaust.

I would love to have those stripes! There is no part number for those in the PDF attached..... That car is definitely special, love the detail of the BMW Sauber displayed in the steering wheel.

Nice find, ask them about the stripes, if they can be bought from any dealer and for a part number. Bring real and close up pics and most of all, enjoy the ride!!

What do you mean faux carbon mirrors? They are real carbon fiber mirror covers from bmw performance.

I don't see anything special about this car.

In the 2008 Perfromance Catalog the part number for the stripes is 51 14 0 442 627.

No clue if they are still available.

Unhappy

Thx for the info and pics Bullit.

No offense to anyone buying this car, but they should have called it the BMW 135i Paint & Carbon Fiber Shop Team Edition.

Why would you attach Sauber and F1 to anything that didn't have radically improved performance?

If they have the car in Black with those stripes, please take some pics.

So it seems like that Sauber/F1 package gives you really nothing you can't upgrade yourself, for less actually. And the powder coated rims...most everyone upgrades wheels anyways but to say they're in a "performance" category of an additional ~$20K package... they didn't even throw in the performance pedals or some fancy floor mats. I'm guessing that package does come with some wienersleider/vasoline lubricant though, which is probably the gold membership thing.

i usually like special edition cars and this one's no exception, but i agree that it's not worth the $$

i wonder how hard it would be to set up the perf steering wheel to display whatever text you want...

Thanks for the info but thats the number for the performance stripes. I'm looking for the number on those M colored stripes, which I am not diggin all that much now...will need to see more on them. And I keep asking myself why would BMW do such a car when they have pulled out of F1, kind of takes the essence away. Businesswise it's great but for the purist not good.

Since BMW's pulling out of F1 after this season, get'em while they're hawt... Too bad they're pulling out, though.

Total BS. We need BMW to do an honest to goodness 'performance' edition. With upgraded power, intake, intercooler, suspension, brakes (rotors at least), exhaust, seats, a carbon roof (no sunroof) and the CF trim. Then they price it at 50% discount to all of the individual performance parts if bolted on separately and they have themselves an instant classic. This Sauber car is an instant dud - neat, but really nothing that will have any impact in a few years. Somewhat cheezy with those stripes too. Good for track....but wait, no performance upgrades. What's wrong with BMW - get back to 'the utlimate driving machine' and stop with putting lipstick on a ....pot-bellied pig.
