Now that's the sort of deal I'm looking for - which dealer did you use? If I could get the same sort of deal in Victoria I'd drive the car back up the Hume as a run-in...

Its still a premium car buyers market, push hard and be patient and you should be able to get a similar deal... Didnt happen overnight for me...

I got a ex demo on the 1st of july ( 1 month old) with metallic pain, sunroof, auto for 82k incl. all on roads from BMW Sydney and they are known for not being able to push as hard on deals (as it pisses of the non-BMW owned dealerships). With the sunroof, and auto and paint being around 7k options, you should be able to get a car with around 1K or less on the clock, still new and already broken in (with the sales reps keeping a close watch on it !). In QLD it should be even cheaper.

You will get a much better deal if you are willing to get the car that is already sitting in the dealership. The dealer is much more willing to negotiate the car that they already "own". You just have to be flexible with colour and options.
For me the difference was over 2 thousand dollars had I taken the one sitting on the dealership floor rather than the one which was about to arrive at the dock.

Update - spoke to the dealer and he went through the usual routine of "if you give me your credit card number and are prepared to sign the contract if we accept, I'll take it to my manager". So looks like I'm not completely out of the range since he didn't reject it out of hand.

Hahahahaha is it the AW vert with Black 18 wheels?

That car has been there since at least May. It was the first 135 i ever saw in the flesh. Saw the tag and pretty much said "f**k off".

It was $104,500 when i was there.

I have to admit, the AW with black wheels did look HOT.

The price was arctic.

OK, order placed. Didn't quite get to $75k but I managed $75,200 with an iPod cable and floor mats thrown in. I specified a 2010 build car so I expect the car will arrive some time in March.

Oh, and another thing for anybody ordering during calendar 2009 - make sure you include a clause in the contract stating that if BMW adjusts its prices down before delivery, they will reduce your price accordingly. As some of you might be aware, imported motor vehicle tariffs are coming down from 10% to 5% on 1st January 2010.

So what options did you manage to get ? Seems like a pretty good price, is that drive away ? and also where from ?

Yes, it's drive away and the only option I got was metallic. I won't use any of the other stuff and the fact that you have to pay 33% luxury car tax + 5% stamp duty on top of the already high prices kinda sticks in my throat.

PM me if you want to know the dealership, don't know if BMW Australia will take too kindly to them discounting it quite this much (it was about $9k off list price).

I played with a Prof nav system in an M3 the other weekend, and am toying with adding it as on option on my already ordered 135i... Theyve already told me i can change the options if i wish, but then i saw the 5200 odd retail price on prof nav and nearly choaked!

Im more wanting it for the "I-drive" stuff (communications/enetertainment etc over nav)... any comments / suggestions... btw i aint gunna pay that much for it

with respect to the import tariff coming down by 5% in January-how much does it reduce the list price of the car-presumably its not 5%-any ideas?

I have a car without idrive or any navgation systems. I do not miss it one bit, i saved the cash to do a sound system upgrade and a few performance additions, all cost me less then $5200 installed. And that included buying a large screen navman.

I don't think it's clear, it depends on a lot of factors, most importantly competitive forces. My guess is that if we see Mercedes and Audi reduce their prices then BMW will reduce them just enough to stay competitive

There are also export credits to take into account, I remember that in the past BMW used to source quite a lot of its alloy wheels from Australia that earned it export credits that it could use to offset import duties.

Well-I have decided to go for the 135-initially was holding out for to test drive the new GTi but even though it is considerably cheaper and a good drive-it just didnt compare with the 135 experience! so i will have to stretch the budget to the 135.
Does anyone know if the efficient dynamics program from BMW extends to the 135 and is that a further discount direct from BMW after negotiating a price with the dealer or will be included by the dealer in the price negotiated?

The efficient dynamics discount doesn't extend to the 135i, plus it only applies for cars delivered before the end of November. However I can provide personal confirmation that BIG discounts, much bigger than those from the ED program are available from dealers. I got more than $9k discount off list on the car I ordered this week
