Everyone should erase all of their questions and ask two major UNIFIED questions:
1.) Will it definitely be called an M1 2.) Is it still coming This way there is no beating around the bush.

Hello Scott,
As M division is still evaluating the fesability of the project, what are the probability it make it to the production state? What kind of engine we might expect ? And what will be the est. power figures?( on the marketing side). What will be the estimated price range? What king of special features and options we might expect on the production version? Thanks for the infos |

^+1/ And if the car isn't going to happen, how about producing/increasing actual high performance M parts/tune for the current 135i that will keep warranty/or maybe not, and kick real ass to help prevent some of the Frankenstein mods going on?
The current BMW performance stuff is too mild and twice the cost...c'mon now. |

Scott2x. How come you have answered some questions on other forums but not this one where you posted exactly the same message?
Should I post my questions on those forums too? |

For the lazy: @ Braaf. Can you confirm a release date for M1? First details Dec.2010 , On sale Spring 2011 (Europe) @ Klier I want to know what BMW thinks of the Porsche 918 Spyder concept.... The Porsche concept flows in the opposite direction as the Vision Efficient Dynamics which is the route BMW have a course set on. The Vision Efficient Dynamics might go Topless and be a two seater too. Porsche philes @ Geneva were horrified at the analmagnation of the Porsche brand into VW . The Audi comparisons especially at the rear were too much for some. @ EmPower There has been a big time reality check in real estate market with this economic downturn. I wonder when it will hit the car market and manufacturers realize that their pricing is not right for this market One of the reason why markets such as Europe will see Product rather than concept. Some countries have initiated a "Spend their way out of recession" and it is not going to work , some countries when their figures are revealed within the end of this quarter are going to be back in recession. @ Geneva the focus was on product that was coming to the market and in Leipzig the 5er Touring will debut as the New York Autoshow will see the North American debut of the 5er , X5 LCi , 3er Coupe and Cabrio LCi and the World Premiere of the 335iS. Because these are volatile markets the focus is on showcasing product. Beijing however is another matter especially when that market (China) is growing for BMW. @ NarutoRamen What would be the pricing strategy of a car such as the M1? The 135i is quite expensive enough, especially with options. The M-1 will be priced slightly above the 135i maybe euro 10,000 more? But it is not going to be a 135i with a little more power, It has been completely overhauled - Dr Segler wants The M-1 to reinvent the Passion that afflicted the E30. Had the E30 been around today it would be sought by a younger demographic. This is what they want for the M-1. @ Chonkoa I will believe when I see something. Although you see spyshots of prototypes and statements. Ring season is almost upon us then you will see how far this has gone and then the camouflaged mules drive out. @ Kowalski Joy SUCKS. Bring back the ultimate driving machine. JOY IS... BMW. But the UK market still maintains "The Ultimate Driving Machine" alongside JOY. @ SKYSONY/Shonguiz would like to know more about both CS7 and CS6, how their design is gonna be, when are we gonna see the first spy pics, or at least some kind of Concept. What's the statut of the CS7 ? Will we see the 6 cab before the coupe ? Why are you still letting sauber use the BMW name while the cars are Ferrari powered ? CS 6 is to be shown as a Concept in the future , Although based on the matrix that underpins the 5,6 and 7er , The looks will not be inherited between the Coupe and Cabrio of the 6er. CS 6 is a four door Sports car. CS 7 is being developed as a Sporty alternative to a luxury sedan meaning high luxury with a very dynamic character. CS 6 Will not arrive until 2013. CS 7 is being worked on as we speak. The 6er Coupe will come first. The majority of 6er cabrios are testing with their roof folded over the rear axle to test weight distribution. A fibre glass top molded from the F13 roof shape is covered in the insulated hood from the E64 6er. There is a lot of fake panels over the car to put off photographers. The Sauber is something about legality I think. |

Does it really make any business sense for BMW to dump so much R&D and marketing costs into a M1 based on the current 1er, launch it in 2011 for MY2012, and stop selling it just one year later and come out with a new one a few years after that? It's always a good idea to put out a modified version of a product in the middle to end of its life, like the new 335is (or any LCI for that matter) as a means to keep sales going, but it doesn't make sense to develop a VERY HEAVILY modified version of a product one year before it's death. I can see a 135is coming for a year or two, and a M1 launched for MY2014 a year after the F22 coupe. |

BMW made an e46 330Ci (coupe) sport. It looked just like a M3 except it had multi spoke 18 wheels.
They did the same thing with the e36 328i. It came in LeMans Blau and blue alcantera seats & interior trim. You could trace BMW doing this all the way back to the e28 535is and old six series L6's. What I am saying is BMW has been "known" to do this very thing, juice up the model line just before the new platform comes out to replace it! Having a M1 come out in the least year of two of the e82 life cycle, makes total sense to me. I also believe they will call "it" the M1. I believe this bc BMW "has to use" their trade mark'd names every few years in order to keep ahold on the register'd names/numbers. |

As for the other BMW models, I can't counter most of them because I don't have sufficient information, but with regards to the E46, are you talking about the ZHP? If yes, I'd say that model was much more like the new 335is line than a M3. It may have LOOKED like a M3, but it was a 330i Sport with a bunch of cosmetic upgrades and a stronger engine (and I believe modified suspension?) It was not referred to as M3; it was still called 330. I'm not saying a high performance 1er is not coming. I'm just saying making a M1 doesn't make much sense. If BMW makes a car that closely resembles what a theoretical 135is would, they will not call it M1. Calling something M1 means it came from the ///M division, and making a 135is and calling it M1 dilutes the M brand. |
