I don't know anything about Nittos - they may be a fine tire, they may be crap - but please don't blame the Nittos () and conclude that you really know anything about them, either, because you really haven't tried them properly.

IMHOP,
Any tire/wheel shop who would sell and mount missed match tires is not worth doing business with! As Bimmer-Bob stated of course the car is going to handle like crap! As far as what handles better I will know soon. Just ordered Conti Extreme Contact DW replacing my OEM run flats.

15k is decent on runflats. Do you track the car?

I got 18k out of the rear tires with 3 track days and LOTS of spirited driving.

LOL you have a OEM Performance right foot...Certainly you can burn up most tires with the 1 but driving fairly conservatively they will go a good 20,000 miles+...I bought my car from a BMW Corporate Auction with 9200 miles on the car and the Dunlop RFT were practically new..and now at 12,500 miles still in great shape..I think i will get another 10,000 out of them. Certainly not the perfect tire but for many reasons i have chosen to stay with them..Best is to buy them slightly used with 1-3000 miles on them at approx half price... Keep an eye out ....buying them new is not the best financial path...If i was spending $320+ on tires it would be for Michelin PS2 or another TOP quality tire..But for me my choice was to stay with the RFT ....the car just seems right with the RFT but watch out for potholes, manholes and for that matter all holes ....RFT are not forgiving but you no where you stand with them..

I did the same thing and I have the same problem. I have my run flats up front and new non run flats in the back. The car kind of wonders sometimes and feels like it's wanting to pull one way or the other. My front tires are almost gone now so I figured I'd put up with it until I change them out. Good to hear that someone else is having the same issue. I thought it was me or I was imagining it or something.

My seat of the pants feeling is the RFT's are ok over the small bumps, but those sidewalls transmit a lot of shock on big sharp bumps. Tread wear rating on the Bridgestones is very low.

Sorry I have to disagree with you... I did mix tires but a 160 pound friend pushed down on the back of the car... And the whole tire collapsed... This tire was $190 a pop.. They had great ratings but because the tire wall was so thin it just sucked with the 135i suspension...

I agree!!!! Everything you said is right... thick tire wall also the nittos were so loud....

Nope... I like to accelerate the car hard... But I had other people tell me they only got 10k miles out of the tires... I think I did ok....

Thats the problem I had.. The other tires were good but they were like 300 something and the RFT was a little more... And I didn't have to worry about a nail...

Ya it was horrible... HAHA... My dad thought I was crazy.. Then My brother drove it and he said what I did... The car was scary to drive over 80mph...

I have read so many posts from folks who had the same experience as you going to non RFT on the 1...just feels to floaty and off..You can raise the tire pressure up to make a non run flat have less sidewall felx...But for many reasons that not to many agree with...i am sticking with the RFT on this car.. as it is only a road car for me..I would say though that the Dunlop Star Specs would be the way to go on a non RFT for this car...you MUST have a stiff sidewall with the stock suspension.
The car floats too much regardless of whether you use RFTs or not. Having taken them off new and replaced with Michelin PS2, I would never go back. My kidneys couldn't take it. PS2s have a sufficiently stiff sidewall and last a long time. The are quiet and still much cheaper than any RFT and the handling can't be beat.

BTW. Whoever suggested mixing your tires should never get more of your money.
