Nothing wrong with tracking used tires. I do it all the time.

I bought my first set of R888 used from Bimmerworld. Gave me a good idea what to expect without committing too much $$$.
Since then I have bought only new tires. Half used tires are not a great deal if they are half-price. Sounds like a wash but you have to pay for mounting twice on 2 used sets compared to once for one new set. Note that Frisby has new (but shaved to 3/32") R888 tires on sale in some sizes. Full tread r-comps are 6/32". http://www.frisbyracetire.com/eventd...php?eventid=14 I found tiresdirect.net to have good prices on Toyos. |

I'm so happy I stumbled on this thread! Thanks for bringing up the pre-loved R-comps.
My used set of R888's (when i purchased track dedicated rims) was a nice introduction to using R-comps for track. Given that I only track my car 3 times (max) a year, it is economically enticing for me to examine 2nd hand tires. @Nordique-thanks for the tip on the R888's and NT-01's. Given that my car is camber deficient, I will stick for R888's this season. <--sorry for the thread jack |
