Apparently, I'm the only person with a 1M who didn't have a 135 so I can't answer your question. The car is back on the ground now but I'll be changing brake pads next week so I'll answer the CDV question then. I had a Z4 M Coupe previously and the stock CDV sucked so I changed it and loved the opened up version. I don't notice the annoying delay in the clutch on this car so it either doesn't have it or they improved it.

Great, I hope indeed it does not have it. If it does, it won't be the first time though an M car has a CDV, but luckily it is a pretty cheap mod to do.

Clutch Delay Valve. BMW started using them a few years ago to save the clutch from people who can't drive a manual trans. Those that can hate it because it delays the engagement and makes it feel mushy and artificial, like breast implants.

Thanks. As far as I know, I haven't had any experience with either.

Good eye! I'll look at it tomorrow. I have found a few places where sealant and other silicones have run a little after a few days of driving. Normal new car stuff since things haven't dried fully.

LOL Love the comparison, except that breast implants at least have a visual appeal, and I can't find any one pro for the CDV

I couldn't wait. Not a leak as far as I can tell but I'll be watching it.

All the same except the front subframe is 135i and 335i/d. Rear subframe is M3.

Front and Rear dampers are valved differently and spring rates are slightly different as well.

Do you have active steering, or is this just a different reservoir for the 1m? Looks to be the same as the one on the 135i with active steering.

Also, anyone else notice that brace underneath the car (right by the resonator at the rear of the mid-pipe). I don't remember seeing that on my 1er; is this just for the 1M, or am I crazy? I guess I'll have to crawl under and verify. Anyways, nice looking undercarriage!

Tim
We have both a 135i and 1M as shop cars, the same chassis brace is on both cars. You will find the same brace on the 128i as well.

Does it stick out alot? I'm assumimg the 82mm will allow a 5mm spacer? I was planning on their 75mm studs.

Here's how they look with the wheels. I prefer the stub nose ones since they seem to be built stronger than the others. They might be a little long but I don't think it's excessive.

Yes, there is a CDV on the 1M as well, just like with most of the BMW's.

Harold, since you have a 1M can you tell there's a CDV when driving? I can't find complaint with mine like the Z4MC I had previously. Didn't a company that starts with a "Z" sell a gutted CDV?

Yup, it is Zeckhausen racing, and they sell a modified CDV (looks the same from the outside as stock but bored out on the inside, so no issues with warranty). One of cheapest and worthiest mods one can do.

No, not really, at least not on the street. I have yet to take it to the track and really hammer on the car and go through the gears quickly.

The clutch release is much more positive on the 1M than any other BMW with CDV.

Good news. Problem with the frame being white too, every little spec of dirt is going to stand out.

Brake pads

Dan

What are you changing your brake pads to? Something with less dust producing properties?
