I might just get a price on the powder coating first because I reckon that Edwin's wheels look really nice. Unless VMR are reading this thread and want to do me a ripper of a deal on a new set of 18inch V701s in gloss black

Orlin, I would argue that with the dealer or BMW Australia. Mine never had anything on them and I used P21s a few times and I don't think it's the gentlest of solutions to grace us. The roads here are covered in dirt, pebbles, rocks, boulders and crocodiles. Nothing happened so I think it's to do with the paint themselves.

That's a disappointing result mate.

I'd take some photos of the affected wheel and craft up a nicely worded email to BMW Australia. You might get a result, you might not - I reckon its worth 30 minutes of your time, and done right it won't get your dealer offside.

Failing that, the powder coated wheels are going to look fantastic.

Looks like there is not much I can do and I wont be paying them $200 to fix it so ill probably just get all 4 of them powder coated in gloss black instead.
Bullshit. I'd be taking it further.

Both my rear wheels started with light kerb rash and I get flaking on my 261's too - it's like a disease. Anywhere it gets significantly scratched, the paint around it just falls off

Any pics online? Might go down this route if it isn't too pricey

Here's some pics of my black 261's.
Yes I know it needs to be dropped an inch or so but my money is going towards methanol injection first.

It's not gloss and it's not matt, it's in between. I love it cause it blends itself really well with the BSM. Had a slight gutter rash. Last image looks glossy cause the wheel is still wet.
Call Mobile Wheel Tech on 0434940069, he's Sydney based and will come to you. Just tell him you saw Edwin's BMW wheels. Not sure on price as he owed me one.

I have similar flaking issues too..... In fact mines actually alot worse then yours. I'll take a picture and post it here.

Never really thought it would be a warranty issue to be honest, however I don't clean my car much (live in apartment no water hose access) and majority of the time the cars cleaned by my dealer. I just thought I'll upgrade to 313's and everything will be fine

I'm sure if we can gather a few people with same issue along with relevant pictures it wouldn't hurt bringing the attention to BMW Australia, despite if they reply not or not, it's worth a shot.

Hey Edwin,

Are you happy with the quality of the painted wheels?

Are they holding up as good as the OEM wheel finish?

Thinking of having the 1M wheels done in a Black shadow chrome..Should look HOT on the VO.

You could get your wheels powdercoated rather than painted. The finish might last longer.

Hey Zuzu, it may be worth asking the dealer to quote you on painting the wheels upfront, I mean they did ours and I fully expect them to warrant them.

Orlin, what Mr B said, bullshite! Just not good enough, keep trying.
