try this tool - i googled and on other forums they use it to clear the codes in the gearbox. Should work with the updated cable.

http://www.bavariantechnic.com/download.aspx

i saw a pic somewhere under transmission where they can reset the oil but can't find it.

golfer23rm couple days ago when driving in auto my car now revs up when goin to 2-3 then eventually shifts. I been usin in manual then letting off gas before shifting to make it work.if i dont let off gas it kicks hard, I changed my fluid again no help so im guessing my torque converter is gone because fluid is dark/burnt also plates and shift solenoids. Gonna have to do a trans swap cuz its the cheapest option. My car had no maintenance before i got it and has 212,000 miles. Good luck tho i hope it’s something dumb for u. I have a gm6l45 trans pos lol

I had the same kind of situation, after doing the fluid and filter change in my 128i.

I followed all of the directions, but it turns out that the fluid was STILL low.

When filling the transmission while running, you don't have very much room to get a fluid pump nozzle into the fill hole. When I was initially filling the transmission, I saw the liquid coming out and dripping out of the hole. Done! Right? WRONG

The nozzle in my fluid pump was splashing out fluid, and it looked like it was full, when it actually was still over a quart low. Bad shifting, losing pressure while turning and accelerating.

I went back in a 3rd time, but this time I took out the nozzle from the vinyl tubing, and pushed the tube in directly. There's not much room to go in straight, and the nozzle made the situation even worse.

By changing the tube strategy, I was able to get another 1-2 quarts in.

Test drive verified it... running like a dream.

Remember, be careful when you're thinking that it's full and up to level. Check, double check, triple check. Do ANYTHING that you can to keep adding the fluid. Took me 3 tries to finally get it all in. Pay attention to how much that you've added initially, and how much more that it takes.

Hope this helps someone else.

Thanks to Carlin Cassidy at BMWerks in Dickinson, Texas. The most honest, capable BMW shop ANYWHERE! If you're in the greater Houston area, get to know this guy, he's amazing at Beemers!!!
