Reinstalled the JB Stage 1.
In totally unscientific testing it seems to have clipped 1/2 second from my 4th gear 55-75mph passing time. 3rd, 5th and 6th didn't appear to show much improvement, but it was 10 ℉ hotter after install. Powerband initially felt slightly lumpy. Hopefully ECU is still learning. |

Really I only need a 5mm spacer on the rear but I refuse to use any spacer that isn't hub centric. 10mm is the smallest hub centric spacer I could find. |

I was just going to check the torque on the center bolt for the strut braces. Forgot I hadn't checked the filter since purchase, but there's no way this is from me. I don't park near any pine trees so the PO let this happen. I'm a moron for not checking though. This picture is after I broke it up, but it was all caked together under the filter.

Never had a leaf under the cabin filter in the 9 years of E8/9x ownership, only in the side gutters. To me, it seemed to be pretty well insulated from the surroundings. |

Today, I replaced the rear left upper control arms and upgraded them to 1M ones by TRW. Then, I and my father proceeded to replace the rear subframe bushings in the rear position, which was pretty hysterical to see (used various size hole saws and PVC pipe to MacGyver the things out). Finally, my father and I attempted to do the front position subframe bushings, but after repeatedly bending a cut-up and butchered hole saw, we gave up.
The things now left to do are: Installing a 15mm ECS rear sway bar (non-sport package car here), front subframe bushings (more MacGyver-ing required), differential carrier bushings, and the right side upper control arms. Eventually, I'll install the F30 335i Calipers I have laying around. And, there's an HPDE/Track Day coming up at Summit Point, I intend to attend with NASA. The fun continues...

Installed MMP inlets for the second time. I burned a hole in my silicon set so i went aluminum this time. Wrapped with heat tape and made sure there was plenty of clearance from the turbo manifold. Totally my fault with the first install, live and learn! To punish myself further, i installed MMP aluminum outlets at the same time as well. My back is toast but the car pulls like a freight train.

Alright, after a few days of resting I got back to the spoiler install. For it being a Chinese replica, VERY impressed with how it sits and looks. It molded and sat on the car like a glove.
Here is where the spoiler is off and the surface is prepped. Quick clean with paint thinner and a rub clean so it doesn't eat through the clear coating. Wiped the spoiler with paint thinner as well. Rubbed it clean as well to make sure it didn't eat through anything. I bought 3M Double-sided Molding tape at 1/2" wide. Bought only 10ft for like $13, It was enough to cover 2 full stripes from back and front to both ends and a little strip in the middle. Taped off the ended with white painters tape for alignment and then just peeled back and stuck it on. It's pretty much dead center (used a micrometer to check distance for either side). Afterwards, I let it bake in the sun all morning/afternoon. You can tell it added down-force when driving on the highway. Car doesn't sway so much with high wings, feels like the back-end is being pushed down more. |

Looks nice! I have the same one waiting for my car to get out of the shop. Should go well with the carbon difuser. Do you have any shots from a little further away?

In all my life I've never seen a ratchet or dog-clutch slip... which is alot more than I can say for a handbrake. |

On Imgur you don't need to set the pic as public to be able to link it to a forum..
I gave you an upvote cause I'm a nice guy

I bought the 3M tape from a NAPA Auto Parts store here in Canada. Autozone would be the equivalent I assume in the USA. Just make sure you get the corners to the very edge if you can and razor off any extra. Let it sit in the sun for an afternoon and it should be good. |

Mobile phone mount and charger
I mounted a mobile phone holder. I've been debating for a few weeks where and how to mount it. I finally decided on a Scosche magnetic mount, along with a flush usb car charger and a right angle iphone cable.
Now my cell phone is exactly where I want it, doesn't block the air vents, and the charger and cable fit under the cig lighter door without having to unplug them! I really like it, the magnet is strong, and the thin metal plate fits under my phone case. I think it's pretty discrete as far as mounts go, and I really like being able to cleanly hide the charger and cable underneath the ashtray door. I have tried other chargers and cable combinations, and all of them either prevent the door from closing or rub to the point it doesn't latch well. https://www.amazon.com/Scosche-MAGDM...=scosche&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Some reviews of the Scosche mentioned that intense summer heat can make the adhesive fail. No sign of it yet even in the Texas sun. If it does happen, I will bolt it to the trim--there's a space underneath the ball joint to hide the screw nicely. I know that some might think it blasphemous to put a screw hole through the trim piece, but I think every car needs a cell phone holder anyway, so I can't see needing to ever remove it.

Eclipse Road Trip
1305 mile round trip to Lincoln City, OR to see the eclipse and to celebrate my parents 80th birthdays and 60th wedding anniversary. Drove up Sunday morning, drove home yesterday (Tuesday).
The eclipse was glorious. 2024 I'll have a longer lens. The ride home through the central valley was challenging. The bugs hitting the car sounded like rain at one point. It was getting pretty tough for the wipers to keep up.
