What's the point if it's only going to be available in three colors (white , black , orange ).

Yeah, but you can have the wheels powdercoated for $4-500.

That looks way too low for my taste.

From a shop, indeed. Some BMW vendors such as Tischer have started offering OEM wheels in black, but I'm not sure if they do it themselves or source them from BMW - or if it carries some sort of markup.
In the rest of the world, you certainly can. In the US we're usually SOL when it comes to some of the more esoteric options.

Overall, I think the 1M will be an incredible car but I'm a bit dissapointed that it is 1/2" taller than the 135i.
I looked up the stock 135i and M3 tires on Tirerack.com the diameters are 135i F: 215/40R18 diameter = 24.8" R: 245/35R18 diameter = 25.0" M3 F: 245/35ZR19 diameter = 25.8" R: 265/35ZR19 diameter = 26.3" So the 1M tire diameter, assuming it uses the the same tires as the M3, is 1"+ larger than the 135i tire diameter. The increase in radius coincidentally (?) matches the difference in height. Of course not all things are equal (suspension different, wheel width has small affect on tire diameter, etc). Anyway, I will eventually consider lowering the 1M a little if some good prings are offered and there is enough clearance. |

According to the "Data" section of the sticky...
Height (mm) = 1420 for the 1M, and 1408 for the 135i. Also, just going from appearance, the 1M seems to have more rake. M3Adjustor, did it look that way in person? |

As far as the height of the 1m vs a 135, that's not something i noticed, just really noticed that the 1m had too much gap between the tires and fender. We were cautioned that final spring rates/suspension setup had not yet been determined. |

Per Bimmerfile, http://www.bimmerfile.com/2011/01/12...ission-brakes/ , the 6 speed is from 135i. The clutch is from 335is. |

Are you sure this is right? In the recent technical briefing released by M-Power they said: "The compact six-speed transmission with dry sump lubrication is a new development and has a weight of just 43 kg – much lighter than similar gearboxes." "Because the drive shaft is also a new part, every ing is specifically tailored to the requirements of the BMW Series 1 M Coupé in this combination, starting from the flange of the crank shaft." I took this to mean that it was a brand new transmission, not the 135i transmission. Assumed it was developed for the upcoming M3 because they could never cost justify a new transmission for the 1M.
