I saw an Alpine White 1M on Mariposa Street (San Francisco) parked with the driver inside.
It was around 8:45am, I believe. Plate number started out - 6TDS??? Is he a member here?

Looks like people in the bay area stopped caring about one another... although I rarely see other 135i coupes in my daily commute.
I halfway cut off a black 135 on De Anza yesterday in Cupertino... my bad. The car in front of me was going slow and you weren't going fast enough to stop me from merging. Hi!

I feel like 1's are starting to get a bit more popular, so much power in such a great looking package. |

I have a buddy that works at Apple, he says they are absurdly popular on the campus, makes sense. I work south of Stevens Creek on De Anza so I'm not typically up that way... surprised I don't see more of them driving through Los Gatos or Saratoga. I think I've seen one in Santa Cruz... and it was a convertible... I don't acknowledge convertibles.

Saw a space gray or sparkling graphite 135i with M-Sport package at Shell on Gellert in Daly City earlier today around noon. It had black wheels.

BE VERY CAREFUL OUT THERE!
THE LOS ANGELES TIMES HAS AN ARTICLE ON THE SUBJECT: "FLOORING IT ON CAR FINES". PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES ! Subject: Important Notice: HUGE California Traffic Tickets Fines Effective 01/06/2012 Please be extremely careful in your driving and car registration & insurance matters. State of California is broke and they are trying hard to squeeze all of us hard to collect money. Effective immediately, if you do not stop at the red light, be ready to pay $436 in fines or if you pass a school bus with fla shing red signals, you will be charged $616. The state of California is going for blood, so be extra careful in driving, You cannot afford messing with them. I have been hearing that Highway Patrols are under pressure to issue a lot more tickets than last year with at least 30% increase in fines over 2009, so beware of radar guns, highway and traffic cameras installed everywhere and the tougher enforcement of parking rules. Just for your info, the next time you park in the handicapped zone, even for a minute, you will be looking at almost $ 1000 in parking tickets, so it'd better be worth it. California needs money, so pay close attention to the rules of the road! Traffic Ticket Fines (Effective 01/06/2012) VC 12814.6 $214 Failure to obey license provisions. VC 14600(A) $214 Failure to notify DMV of address change within 10 days Note: The fine may be reduced with valid proof of correction. < span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black'> VC 16028(A) $796 Failure to provide evidence of financial responsibility (insurance) Note: This fine may be reduced with proof of insurance on or after the violation date. VC 21453(A) $436 Failure to stop at a red signal. VC 22349 $214 Unsafe speed, 1 to 15 miles over the limit. VC 22350 $328 Unsafe speed, 16 to 25 miles over the limit. .....mom, what are you doing on 1addicts?!
(seriously, she sends me this email every year. ) i find that ticketing frequency seems to correspond with how broke the city is. for example, i've rarely pay for a parking meter in alameda (always running quick errands, never have change) yet have never gotten a ticket. in oakland... well, i just got an $83 ticket for barely touching a red zone. it wasn't even a real red zone, just the red painted at the end of a block without a crosswalk! The other Sunday morning I got a speeding ticket going down 280 in San Mateo. There were at least 3-4 CHP cars on that stretch that day. Likewise coming back there were several on the other side, and I saw cars pulled over getting tickets.

This is not about seeing another 1 in the Bay Area, but when driving my 135i southbound on Sunset Blvd. in SF this past Sat. I noticed someone trying to get my attention in the car next to mine. Traffic was moving so I was pretty sure he wasn't looking for directions and then as his lane opened up and he pulled away, I saw that it was an Asian guy in a white badgeless 3 coupe giving me a "thumbs up" about my car. At least I'm pretty sure it was that. I don't think he wanted to race, and I couldn't anyway since my engine isn't broken in and I was near empty since I was seeing how many miles I got out of a complete tank of gas.
Either way its cool getting respect from real BMW enthusiasts in the Bay Area. |

I only ask because I drive pretty fast on 280 also and thought that as long as I'm not pulling ahead of the flow of traffic I'm fine at most speeds. |

He clocked me on radar going 87 downhill. Wrote the ticket for 85.
I was in far left lane, passed the car in the next lane but not like I flew right past. |

Sighted a TiAg 1er at 11th/Bryant by costco this morning. Twin to my car!
Also saw the Valencia Orange 1 series M at the BMW SF dealership. It's listed at $20k over MSRP. |
