Actually you need to remove the plastic mirror covers to install the CF replacements. I'm sure the weight difference is negligible. While the BMW performance stuff is purely cosmetic, they are complete CF replacements, and not add-ons:

Yup I'm just a poser. (My car was delivered with the CF mirror caps and spoiler)

i didn't miss the point, I just don't agree with that statement. Enzo loved the street cars. He was very involved in the design and development. Hell he cared so 'little' about Ferrari's street cars he named the Dino after his late son.

Dude, chill with the poser stuff. You don't even know what you are talking about. The BMW CF mirror covers are a direct replacement, they do not go over the existing plastic mirror covers as you suggest. They will not add weight or affect aeordynamic.

Awright, I hit a nerve, let's get back to the real part of the thread which is the stripes!

So has anyone seen any other stripe designs for 1Ms other than Jon Sibal and the offset 1M stripe?

You didn't hit a nerve. You are entitled to your opinion about the validity of CF parts that only serve a cosmetic purpose. You were giving out false information about the parts by BMW Performance and a few were correcting you. That is all. Game on.

C'mon, trying to make peace here, not ruin this thread. Saying Fake carbon parts are for Posers is no different than you taking a shot at all-wheel drive being training wheels for rear wheel drive!

Just trying to make peace.

So if I say you win, can we just move on?

I love the stripes the way you did them, especially the trunk. 1M in AW begs for this.

Has anyone thought of doing the ///M tricolor stripes in a way similar to the 2002tii? Basically the way they go up like a hockey stick. It may work as the 1///M has the crease in that same position and the contours naturally flow that way. Just a thought.

Let's hope it's nice //M colors and lines for the AW

I'm curious. Why don't these stripes on 1M follow the original pattern more closely.

Shouldn't they go around the bonnet and front wings and then up the A pillar and/or along the swage line then join at the rear wings and go round the boot lid?

Current design makes the car look too narrow and tall. Anyone able to render what I'm on about?

Spock, I knew I'd find you dueling with inferior life forms with your inimitable logic.

The stripes are great.

I wouldn't put them on mine, but I like the retro look. I'm not a big "sticker" fan, but these looks kind of nice on the AW. Congrats for taking the step and doing it.
