Doesn't both major N54 tuners (Burger & Vishnu) run DCI's? I'd rather go with Dinan or Mr. 5 but the DCI's are a great alternative to the stock setup when running higher boost IMO. Last edited by TunedM2C; 01-01-2012 at 03:59 PM.. |

Mr.5 intake or Dinan (if it fits on the 1M) are the ideal intake solutions for those running higher boost than OEM. I would recommend upgrading the stock intercooler before though as that in itself is a joke. |

if you move the little tiff out of the way, based on what I have seen, the stock intake seems to be the best option for cost to gain ratio. The cost to change yields little gains and is more for looks/noise.
Only need to get another intake is if you are going to make crazy HP. Cost per HP is just not there. I think that sums up this thread. |

This is a fun read! Well if anyone is interested we did a test with the Stock Airbox compared to our Helix Intake on the same day, same car. I didnt do a DCI vs Helix intake Dyno but maybe if someone else can find a stock vs dci Dyno we could see. Also, get it from a good source, some intakes claim 25 hp which we all know is bologna. The test we did was not in a wind tunnel so there is no way to get an exact delta. We did what we could with the tools we have. The Intake is past its testing period so PM me with any questions. On our 1M we saw 7 hp gain on the very conservative Mustang dyne with the AFE stage 2 intake. At elevated boost levels there may be more power to be had.

Yup. That's right in line with what we saw, with the above mentioned caveats about testing limitations. It's not earth-shattering, but it is something, and enough that you would feel a difference in the butt-dyno, and measure an increase at the track.

The oem air box is definitely a limitation at anything above stock boost levels as confirmed by GIAC. There is virtually no difference in power at elevated boost levels with or without the AFE Stage 2 intake so at least we know the AFE Stage 2 flows well.
