I have just tried to get a set of Performance brake from getbmwparts.com but was also told that they can not send overseas anymore and said it was implemented directly from BMW America. I guess BMW Australia started bitching to BMW America
They can only send to US address now so they recommended www.bongous.com It is only $5 to get a US address and they can forward it ur AU address. Has anyone use them before or has use anything similar?

I know they're different sizes & tyres, but FWIW as a comparison datapoint, I got 4 x ContiSport3's in 225/255 x 18 combination for <$A1100, fitted & balanced from a "grey" importer in Sydney

I would do 255/275 too. The stock tyres are quite stretched on the wheel so one size up would be pretty good.

Adding more grip in the rear will likely encourage the front to understeer - one thing I love out this car is the fact that it doesn't do that, would be a shame to lose that characteristic. |

I have 2 US addresses now MYUS.COM and VIADDRESS.COM which uses Fedex and free address and also very cheap Fedex shipping cheaper rates than MYUS.
Just compare shipping weights and prices I think its going to be very hand to bring in OEM BMW parts shortly as they are shutting down international shipping to Australia. As in Australia we pay 3 times the price for parts in the USA.

Depending on the wheel I end up with, I will be going one wider front and back - the PS2 in the back are really stretched and I think it helps the car be so tail happy. |

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=688548 Comment #9 by Artemis may be of interest http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=536206&page=5 Also comment #108 by ///M1. If dry grip is paramount, then Michelin PS Cup+/N-Spec might be an alternative - unless you intend to drive regularly on the road |

PS Cup will definitely not do in the wet season up here! I have 18" with A050s for track days anyway - they don't rub! BTW - nice research Timbo! |

Would be interesting if 245 PSS rubs as they are said to be a touch wider. |

It rewards drivers and punishes little girls. A sudden stab on the throttle mid corner results in an abrupt sideways step of the tail, provided you're ready for it, it's one hell of a fun car to be in and I absolutely love it. The 135 would respond more doughy to driver inputs which takes away from the fun and gives less confidence so you don't go there to begin with. I can see many getting into trouble with a 1M, but only because we all think we're Schumachers! ... But back to the OP, glad I can still get PSS from Tirerack! I hear you can pick up R888's for a good price on ebay. |

I'm very fortunate to have a free access to the track and a few cars to abuse this privilege with! I generally keep all the antics off the street and on the track. With the track 18" wheels with A050 I find the 1M to be extremely communicative and really progressive, I've had great fun and put down some half decent times in spite of myself. I think the main issue for the 'tail happiness' are the PS2 and especially when they wear down a bit. You're definitely right, it's so easy to invoke it and have fun catching it. But there are instances with the PS2s where you could be driving happily along and you take a roundabout a bit harder than you should have and it just steps out with not much warning and then you have to be on it! I personally had to go both pedal in to save myself. Scary stuff! A few owners have experienced the same thing and it's savage! I think the PSS helps with this as it a far more communicative tyre and has more progressive loss of traction. |

Sure you'll be fine mate. Besides the plastic lining is not going to cost too much to replace!

Re - MYUS shipping, just remember Amex card holder gets 30% off shipping.
Re - PSS very good tyre, but a little bit nosier. You can certainly feel it getting loose. PS2 just steps out. You just need to have your wits when you drive the 1M. I still prefer to drive with MDM on. Pricing - by the time everything was added with quarantine fees etc, it was 1800 for the set.
