I suggested a drip feed of new information each day - I think we've done well so far considering it's a new wheel and there needs to be an element of surprise Quote:

And thanks for the feedback on the wheel weights. Is it strange that the V810 18x9.5 ET45 and ET58 are the same weight? Do they have different face profiles or something else that can cause this to be the same? I noticed that the 19x9.5 ET40 and ET58 have a difference in weights - 0.6lbs for 18mm offset difference, or 0.033lbs/mm. I predict the following wheel weights for the new Flow-Form wheels: V810 18x8.5 ET45 ... 20.4lbs 18x9.5 ET45 ... 21.0lbs 18x9.5 ET58 ... 21.0lbs 19x8.5 ET45 ... 22.0lbs 19x9.5 ET40 ... 23.0lbs 19x9.5 ET58 ... 22.4lbs new Flow-Form wheels 18x8.5 ET38 ... 20.4lbs (offset to be confirmed) 18x9.5 ET57 ... 20.8lbs 19x9.5 ET40 ... 22.8lbs (weight confirmed) 19x9.5 ET57 ... 22.2lbs I'd like the weights to be a lot lower but, based on the very small 0.2lbs saving for the 19x9.5 ET40, the ET57 would be less of a saving compared to the V810 19x9.5 ET58 due to the extra 1mm of hub mounting pad. Same theory for the 18" wheels, although having to compare the new 18x8.5 ET38 (offset unconfirmed) to the V810 18x8.5 ET45 is difficult - even though the new wheels are supposed to be lighter, the extra 7mm of hub mounting pad adds weight, possibly 0.2-0.3lbs. But I'm still hopeful for larger weight savings on the new wheels - like I said, sub-20lbs would be great! |

Would LOVE something with wider spokes than your v705 that looked like the old motorsport compomotives or fikse FM5's. Mmmmm FM5's |

If anyone (other than Advan) could be bothered to make rims in sensible widths (8" and 9") for 18" they could be sub-20lbs

Sure, you might be able to fit those wider tyres on an 8" and 9" wheel, respectively, but the tyres aren't designed to fit on wheels that small. "Function over Form" - anyone running wide tyres as above would (should) be doing it for a reason - track work. Doing so on the street is just for aesthetics. Not to mention, there are 1-series fitment 18x8.5" and 18x9.5" wheels available in weights around 18lbs so it is possible. We just need one wheel manufacturer to get the offsets right to run a 255/285 combination. |

Well FWIW the V713 if it's inspiring the new one, has far fewer spokes than most CSL styled wheels. Still...
We don't know until you show us! Do it. Do it or the kitten gets it! Don't think I wont.

Kidding of course haha.. We did an on-vehicle photo shoot with the new Flow-Form wheel just last week. As soon as our photographer gets back to me with the edited version, I'll post it up

When you said "within", I thought it might have been sooner but you're stringing us out until the last day. Time to produce the goods! We don't need the full photo shoot - just a preview will do for now - just like with the new V706 that was recently released. |

You'd be borderline certifiable for wanting to run 255/285 tyres on a 1er -

I'm happy to live with that label if it means I can get maximum grip without going for a wide-body conversion. I don't necessarily subscribe to the school of thought of going square if it compromises on rear wheel grip, especially if you have a lot more power than standard. These cars need all the grip that they can get. After all, the only thing between the car and the track are tyres.

So this is my guess on how the new Flow formed will look like:
inspired by the TWS Motorsport T66-F Forged wheels ( ~15lbs for 18x8.5) More pics: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1902220 BUT with spoke grroves of v810 BMW TWS Motorsport T66-F : http://cdn.mkimg.carview.co.jp/minka...t=4a6608988660 If they are Anything like this, I am very excited ~20 lbs is fine by me vs OEM ~24lbs EDIT I found - very sexy:http://tws2008.blog55.fc2.com/blog-entry-230.html And: http://nurwerke.blog.jp/archives/51815101.html http://nurwerke.blog.jp/tag/TWS%E3%8...83%BC%E3%83%AB Last edited by andrey_gta; 11-25-2014 at 11:14 AM.. |

As per above, @VMRWheels originally mentioned the new Flow-Form wheels in this thread over 3 weeks ago and were happy to continue discussing it in this thread for lack of another so, no, not thread-jacked. And anyway, VMR are getting free bumps for this thread and, not to mention, there seems to be a lot more interest in the Flow-Form wheels than there is in the V706. |
