Hopefully no 1M was hit by heavy hail showers earlier this week, as happened to 3000 to 3500 brand new Ford cars (Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy) sitting for transit on a factory parking lot in Flanders (Limburg province): 95% of all cars sustained hail damage (hail with a size up to 5 cm)

Mine was delivered on friday!
Incredible as they may seem, but the reviews are SO right! Seeing this orange beast sit in a regular parking lot, it's supercar-like for presence. Driving it, even during break-in, makes you feel like you're riding some wild thing as well. No lack of refinement though, only over typical Belgian cobble stone roads. Tried some smaller, uneven country roads with a lot of elevation change too and the car stays composed, not jiggly like our e60 m5. The lower end torque is really addictive too, definitely second and third with windows opened! Third gear is simply awesome by the way!!! One thing I didn't read yet: there appears to be a little lag when pulling from 2k or so, with sometimes a short on-off-on (all in less than a sec) phenomenon. It disappears with m-mode engaged and I suspect it's lessening. Maybe it was something onlyfor the first couple 100 kms.. Has anyone else experienced this?! |

First Impressions
got about 4500km now,
mainly by friends who did the km's till first service (and a bit more....) I really like the stickering, it breaks the black, this "wax-it" is staying till winter, afterward I'll do something for my own business next year we plan a trip through the mountains to supercar-valley, then striping will be ITALIA when my driving buddy brought it to my place, we went immediately to the Nordschleiffe, I try to do that with my new cars, as I know the RING very well, I can more easily find out how it behaves and if there are any issue for me (Aeromax needed another steering house, but too expensive so an update in the geometry and other tires did the trick for 80%) so how were those first laps on the RING? first two were on damp track, slightly raining, it scared the shit out of me, I only had done a few km's from autobahn to RING, so every curve was a challenge, luckily a BMW has a setup that gives confidence, also I left all safety-systems on, after two laps I went for a drink, my buddy took it for a lap and drove everithing off, halfway he pushed the M-mode to OFF, as he got frightened by the sudden overboost out of curves third lap was faster and confidence was growing (and track driying) fourth lap was for the first half really to much trying to be fast and more trowing the car, so I did a few curves at idle to calm down, then after a yellow flag-section, we had GT3 and Cayman R on our tale, I let the GT3 pass by, only to find out: old guy no CS: so I chased it, could follow (probably because I know the track so well) and we rode away from the cayman so: next thursday - if everything goes by plan, I go back with M3power he'll be a lot faster with his suspension setup and black kidneys but I'll try to follow him when in a good mode, I'm sure we'll eat Caymans for breakfast and RS3s for lunch don't know about diner current impressions: pro: grip - diff - brakes - power delivery - torque - steering - comfort - goodies - seats - looks make people go to slow-lane faster than in 911 don't know: suspension (harsh on bad roads + slightly too soft for track) noiz (good for daily + too silent for sports) neg: hard plastic everywhere - need a new dog-cage - makes you wanna go TOO FAST some pictures at my parents place: I only had my camera, not my bag with all equipment, so no polarisation-filter |

Great idea to make a trip on the track someday together... On 11/11/'11 it's public driving experience at Spa Francorchamps. see: http://www.spa-francorchamps.be/nl/p...experience.php I've been there a couple of times, and is it's OK: not too many cars on the track, for sure not in november... Here's a photo I took of another 1M-owner @ Spa on 21/07/'11: Last edited by ruf; 08-20-2011 at 07:55 AM.. Reason: foto error... |

I don't actually have my 1M yet...
Expecting it in some weeks. Can't wait !!! Depends how long the runing in will take. Want to run it in hard, but not on the track, there it's too hard to don't pass 4500rpm... But it would be very nice to gather some 1M's on the track. So I'll do my best to drive some extra km as soon as I get mine ... |

I'm planning also to do the ///M training, but I guess, it's a step by step approach ? I mean, do you first have to do the "Advanced Training" and "Performance Training" before you can do the ///M training ? Sounds logical to me... Then it will take me some time to get to the ///M trianing |

I think the car in the pic might well be that of the OP (hwelvaar)... not sure do..
The running in will be a piece of cake trust me. Once you have done the advanced training you can go straight for the ///M training and skip the performance training. In fact they're almost the same exept you will be driving you're own M car during ///M training |

I've been also at Spa on public days with my 135i, in 2009&2010! It was always fun!
Now, i also want to go to a Public day with my 1M, but November it's maybe too late, conerning the weather! I've finished my run-in, a week ago!! |
